Very good review and an interesting band deserving some attention.I actually prefer the more mid-paced song in power metal so i could like this album.I just hope the song aren't too repetitive without the use of keyboards.
I think i encountered a review somewhere else on this album and as i recall it was labeled thrash metal.

Thrash? Well, not really. There are some speed metal moments as I mentioned (that perhaps have a thrash tinge), which some people just might call Thrash, since Thrash was referred to as Speed Metal in the mid 80's... but if you're expecting Destruction or early Metallica, Exodus... that type of thing, not even close.

The songs aren't repetitive at all actually. They vary the tempos a lot and have distinct riffs in each song, so that's not the problem. The main reason for the sub 80 score is that despite the band trying hard to not be repetitive, the song writing isn't song enough to make each song memorable in its own way. There were just too many moments of indifference. You know, the riffs and melodies which are neither good nor bad, just kind of there. There were enough moments that made me think, "wow, this is really good" to move the score above 70, the CD just isn't consisently good.

Let me put it another way. I probably wouldn't pay full price for this CD. If I found used or at a sale/clearance price I'd buy it in a second.

What's funny about that is their music has more in common with Maiden. Sure, they have their Priest moments, but I just found it kind of ironic.

For all of you interested in hearing this band I found their homepage.

www.rapid-fire.it/scream.htm There are a couple of full length mp3s, including Wild Obsession, one of the better songs on the CD, and there are samples for every other song on there to give you an idea of what they sound like. Give Fast Like The Fire a listen. It's a sample, but it's great Speed Metal and the fastest song on the CD. Enjoy.

Oh... :? Well, Sigma is a great power metal band from Italy, their first album came out the same time as the Vision Divine debut on the same label. The first album is really good, with some Rhapsody influences and a great singer, but he left/got fired afterwards :( On the second album they recruited this Anthony guy (now in Rapid Fire), who's ok too, but the album is perhaps a bit inconsistent and the sound sux! :( ...Actually I just read that Anthony has left Sigma too...

Here's their site: http://www.sigmaonline.co.uk/
