Man, a lot of people would call this a classic. I wouldn't, but it's most definitely a killer album.

I agree that this is a classic! I actually feel "Gretchin Goes To Nebraska" is their best album with this one a very close second; some of King's X's best material ever. And to see Dogman with a score of 88? Mmmmm. I know each to his own where opinions are concerned but Dogman marked a serious change in musical direction for the band; one that was somewhat inconsistent. Some good tunes, but the music got a bit to grunge for me and what was really attractive about King's X. I'd give "Out of The Silent Planet" high 90's, even 100. Dogman? Hi 60's.

Gretchin Goes to Nebraska definitely a classic. I don't think Out of the Silent Planet is a masterpiece though, its too repetitive. Thats why I rated it as very good.

Dogman, in my opinion, is also an excellent record. Different, yes, but more to my liking (heavier, darker, more diverse).

My favorite King's X album is Manic Moonlight, but I dig all of them. Such a great band.

Manic Moonlight? It took me a very long time to get into that album. It was somewhat experimental and took things a bit further from where "Bulbous" was going. It has it's moments but I really have to be in the mood to listen to that one.

Yes, a very different album, but for some reason I just really dig the songs. It's often labeled their worst, but I find it to be very catchy.

I am pretty late to this party, but I finally took this out of my collection and gave it a spin (picked it up used last year along with all of their discography).

My god, what an album. Just from a first listen I am floored with how tight these guys are, something that is certainly confirmed with what would later follow. It definitely has a "classic" worthy status to my ears, though more listens would be needed to confirm that. Still, just absolutely stunned by what I have missed out on with these guys. Best trio this side of Rush IMO.

Actually, I was considering giving Gretchen Goes to Nebraska a classic review. It can also be Faith Hope Love (I love both albums equally).

This is probably the first album of theirs that I have listened to entirely, so I think I am in for a treat once I get to those.
