This album is one song short of a masterpiece! Overall, a great, catchy album that is the best System yet! Definately in my top five for 2005 so far.....

Put it down to taste, man.. I really enjoyed Toxicity and Steal this Album! but I only really like Sad Statue and Question! from this release.

I suppose I like the guy's voice; it gives the music a strange circus-like tinge which compliments the simple riffs well.. diluted by the guitarists voice the effect doesn't work as well for me on this CD.

I gave it a 49/100.

Voted 30. Steal this album was of average yet better quality than this release, and Toxicity was quite nice. Still I think SOAD needs to take a lesson in dynamics and make their music less random, I feel that randomness is not something original or of quality, but just ridiculous.

I've heard nearly all the songs on this album, and they are simply not as good as either their s/t or Toxicity. This album has a much more commercial feel than any of their previous.

What a humongous slap in the face of generic billboard music

No, more like taking that generic music and changing their own sound to reflect it. It was a disappointment for me beyond belief, and I hope Hypnotize will be better, else they really have sold out.

i only heard the new single, and it fucking sucks. b.y.o.b or something (btw, what does it mean?).

the melodic bit before the "heavy" bit is TERRIBLE!! the vocals just totally suck there.

and the video? the bitchez? hello? rap? suck?

i have the first album, not bad that one.

their "message" though... someone please explain.. "anti-system" or whatever, but they play to mtv, with expensive videos and major-label deals??

SOAD is really not my thing. The guy's vocals just suck.

for SOAD fans there is a lot to like here - I like their slightly altered musical direction; I think it will make for more repeat listens than Toxicity which tended to drag on in the last half. B.Y.O.B is one of the worst songs on there, I don't know why they chose it as the single.

I don't watch TV, so I could care less what their 'image' is.

I hate this album, seriously, I really dislike System Of A Down. First of all, the guitarwork really sucks and the songs have little to no structure. What pisses me off the most is that people always talk about it and ask me if I like it, sorry, I'm not like all you idiots out there buying blindly a stupid album like this, what a waste, this is definitely not metal. And most of all the lyrics don't make sense, the signer's voice sucks too, really, I can't think of a "metal" band that pisses me off more! Go buy a Dio CD if you want to hear some metal! BYOB is seriously the worst song ever, another successful attempt from these guys to cash in on a youth that doesn't know shit about metal, Nu-Metal sucks.

I lthink this is a good album... maybe a tad too commercial but it has its kick ass moments too... then, I love SOAD, the guitarwork is just awesome (because you never know exactly what to expect) and because their songs play with the classic pop format (and yet are very structured)... then, it's definitively metal... modern metal indeed but metal anyway... as for the lyrics I have no problem with their non sense or their sense... yeah, most of the times it means something... only tiny disappointment (except the more melodic inclinaison) has to be how Serj sings less on that album... he's an awesome singer (Jello Biafra tradition) and I strongly feel he should do all the leads in SOAD...

to sum up things, SOAD are great, this album is not their best but still pretty good and if you can't handle metal to evolve you should just shoot yourself or stay on your own beloved grounds... :P

Oh yeah sure, so I don't like system, so I should shoot myself, yeah sure, good logic... Almost as logical as when you say the guitarwork kicks ass because you never know what to expect, I know exactly what to expect when I listen to this music, there's always some melodical moment, then they totally lose it and play like some fucking idiots who just bang on their guitars randomly, then another melodical moment, etc. That's just what they do, no solos too... No, seriously, this isn't metal, Nu-Metal isn't metal. Metal can evolve, I think of bands like Children of Bodom, In Flames, Iced Earth, etc. They kick ass, you know, I'm only 16 years old. I know about the nu-metal movement and it sucks, my friends almost all listen to that shit, and I grew bored of it very soon, the first listen to the album can be not too bad, but there's not a single song on it that I would like to hear more than twice anyways.

Only problem I have with that is that System of a Down are a comparatively experimental nu-metal band and sometimes they come up with something interesting.. Question! from this CD is a good song, at least to my ears.

If you were here to mock bands like Linkin Park or whatever, I'd be right with you.. just that this band and the Deftones are the two that show the most promise of becoming something special and proving that the whole genre wasn't a waste.

I dont like this album as much, Toxicity was better, and as for the Deftones, theyre pretty good, saw them once in concert and it was pretty cool, although their last album i didnt like it all.

I'm not here to fight a battle, I'm here to tell you my point of view, I don't care about winning anything... Implying there actually is something to win. Linkin Park sucks too, sure, they suck more than system of a down, I don't like the genre that's all, if you like it why should I care? What pisses me off is that people who don't like metal use bands like this to denigrate it, saying it's just random guitar and a guy who screams (wich is probably what SOAD is). I know SOAD is a highly commercially successful band and that most people here like it, I know alot of people do not agree with my point of view, but that won't stop me from saying it anyways.
