You're quite right, Misha. Metal is 36 years old now, and it's about time that cross pollination with other increasingly obscure genres became more commonplace. We have people already taking "everything but the kitchen sink" approaches (hello Sigh), but it is really interesting to hear about bands thinking carefully about how to fully integrate influences from world music as a major component.

Of course, we have heard this many times already with Northern European folk elements, but it is always good to look further afield.

Thanks all for the kind words! As you may be able to notice, I'm reviewing records that drift away from metal at an increasing rate, in the hope to get you guys to listen to a wider range or music. Don't worry about me reviewing popular records, I won't do that... Yet...

If you're talking about Andrew Bird, truth, but just one band. I'll need to dig some more into what I have now before going into pop...

All three tracks are great. Fresh and unconventional but still retaining a pretty massive emotional impact.. Great record.
