I was disappointed by the newest Katatonia album so maybe I'll check this out. The first song on the Dead End Kings is great, but from there I couldn't hum a melody or remember a riff or anything. It kinda meanders about without any hooks after the first song. Few bands can pull off subtle dynamic shifts and keep things interesting. The Gathering is one and I still find myself getting bored halfway through the album. I love The Gathering, but I can't listen to a whole album by them. A lot of bands in this genre fall into the can't listen to a full album by them category for me. Unless I'm going to bed.
