So there's not as many elves, choirs and stuff on this album? Then maybe I should check it out, their newer stuff hasn't really appealed to me.

Speed metal? I've only heard A Night At The Opera and that just sounded like pomp and cheese to me. I might have to listen to this and see if it's much different.

I like Follow the Blind better, but this is still a damned good album.

To say that the 2 albums are different is an understatement. You won't even think they're from the same band once you hear this one.

I like this album. My favorites on this album are Majesty and Run for the Night, but I like to listen to almost all the tracks (as compared to Follow the Blind, only two tracks I reallly listen to on that one are Banished From Sanctuary and Valhalla).

ANATO is pomp and cheese? Yea right. Listen to Rhapsody's Symphony Enchanted Lands II (or basically any of their albums for that matter  ), then we'll talk about pomp and cheese.

Excellent review btw.

Yea, I agree with the scores. It was great for its time, and they've really expanded. Hail Blind Guardian.

Well I think Banished from Sanctuary is the best opening track BG has ever written, that and Traveller in Time.

Yeah,

Majesty was the first song i heard, but it took me a while to find out it was Blind Guardian. I heard it several times before listening to Precious Jerusalem, which i knew was BG. Only when i found out that Majesty was by Blind Guardian as well, i was instantly hooked to the band.

ciao

As for me first album from BG was Imaginations ... and when I heard that I had to collect all of their albums. Imagiantions still remains my favourite but Battalions has something special >>>> MAJESTY <<<<<

Who could think that 20years old boys could write songs like those from BOF.

8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

I believe my first BG album was Somewhere Far Beyond, and though it was an excellent album IMO, it was the second BG album that I purchased, Tales from the Twilight World, that trully made me the BG fan I am today.

Traveller in Time is fuckin' awesome! Banished from Sanctuary is good, but it never really grew on me as much as many other BG songs.
