When these guys first started gigging my band was doing rather well and opening for acts like Primer 55, L.A. Guns, Jackyl, etc... and we partied with these guys after a show they did in La Crosse at Yesterdays Bar. They were super cool and put on a great show that night. They had a buddy on the Bachelorette show or something that was going on in Alaska at the time so that was pretty cool cause they werre making fun of him and stuff and it made me watch that stupid show just to see their friend. Anyway, enough of my nostalgia, I just wanted to explain why I have a soft spot for these guys. I'm glad they are still around. I noticed that Brock stopped using his somewhat overbearing characteristics of his voice from the second album on subsequent releases. I actually really liked that voice once I got used to it and it gave them an identity that separated them from the other metalcore stuff. The lyrics were great. I remember off the cuff a song where he said something like Lace me up, Lace me up, I'm still looking for these angels in the snow ooohh aawww. That oohhh aww part at the end was his trademark crooning in a very distinctive almost goofy kind of vibrato. I really liked that album a lot. I was disappointed with all the releases since unfortunately, but I will give this a try cause I really want to have that feeling I had with their Bitterness the Star album again.
