Listened to it a couple times and it was a complete snoozefest. Will have to listen more though. :\

I don't understand the sadsack adjective. I guess the interpretation should be sorrowful? Anyway, Shining is a legitimately creepy band and that is difficult to find in it's purest form these days. Atilla is another one I feel has a legitimate darkness and sincerity in his work. I'm always excited to hear the real thing. These days people think if they play the same chords, use the same techniques, use the same scales, and dress in black with spikes and corpse paint that it's the same, but it's not. You have to truly believe in the darkness your trying to create for it to be real. I saw an article where a reviewer called a band christian Black Metal. To me that is an oxymoron. It's like saying hot snow. Black Metal is anti-christian by nature. Creating the same style music with christian themes is not Black Metal. That is why, for me at least, certain bands carry the Black Metal label better than others.

Pretty much. Sorry, thought it was a widely-known term!

This sounds intriguing. Thought their last album was good if memory serves me right although I haven't heard it in a very long time. Sounds this might be a step forward. From imagination, I think this album will suit my musical standards these days: Progressive, dynamic, dark and original.

I have to agree with Husker on this one. This album is filled with some of the dullest riffs I've heard this year. Good thing I listened to a few tracks before purchasing and glad I didn't. Boy was I wrong.
