Listening to this right now and it's a damn solid record. The tried and true WASP formula remains ever intact but with enough new musical direction that makes it more interesting than past albums such as the extremely repetitive Helldorodo. Speaking of changes, the overt Christian themes running throughout Golgotha have caused a stir among many of the old guard. Isn't this the same band who gleefully reveled in fucking like a beast!? While it's certainly understandable to question the band's new direction, Blackie's impassioned vocal delivery on songs like Miss You, Slaves of the New World Order and the title track feels like he really means it. WASP was one of the very few 80's hair bands to have any real substance to their lyrical chops and Golgotha feels nothing if not extremely personal for Lawless. No buzzsaw codpieces to be found here, boys and girls. But in all seriousness, I'm really digging what Lawless and Co. have done here on this record and old fans shouldn't be discouraged from checking this out. To Hell with the Devil this is definitely not!
