One of the greatest bands ever. I was a click away from buying this on Amazon a while ago, but it was 12 bucks for the MP3... I'll wait until the price goes down a bit. Glad to hear this is a step up from Snakes and Arrows... I enjoyed it, but I agree on the filler comment.

It's like Snakes & Arrows only with better material. This makes it the finest delivery by Rush since.... Forever.
Same rate as Goat.

I agree that it's the strongest album that Rush has released in a very long time. For me, it's easily their best since Signals. Great album and an appropriate rating.

Same rate as Aleksie.

Fixed that for you. ;)

I need to spend more time with this. Am quite positive that it's a grower, but it's not seizing me as wonderful as others say it is. However I'm a fanboy, so am more than prepared to spend the time!

This album is a monster and definitely takes time to digest. Do yourself a favor and take the time cause it is well worth it. I guess I should say that I've been a fan since I was in gradeschool. It is definitely a grower and a storyteller. It creates a lush soundscape and a vivid world that only gets better the more you understand it. This album will trigger emotions and paint pictures. That's why they are one of the best bands ever. I agree with the score. This is definitely a return to the days of old for Rush as far as the conceptual storytelling nature of the songwriting. The cool thing is that Rush just does what they feel. It's an honest creative process and it really comes through in the music. I wasn't expecting something this epic and deep so I am pretty blown away.

I'm not really the new anything. I'm one of maybe 10 people that bother to post here or have bothered to post here over the past few years.

The lo-fi production has made it hard to give it an honest listen. It sounds like they intentionally mixed it to be as unharmed as possible by Mp3 and frankly that is wrongheaded. I want to hear the HD version to see if it fixes a lot of those problems.

I'm compelled to post again about this album. I originally agreed with the score, but after listening to it over and over and over I've realized it's one of the best albums ever made and deserves my first ever 100 score. I can't imagine a more perfect album. Absolutely Amazing!!! Some of the most thought provoking lyrics I've ever heard. Lines like:

In a world where I feel so small I can't stop thinking big

All is for the best Believing what we're told Blind men in the market Buying what we're sold Believing what we're told Until our final breath While our loving Watchmaker Loves us all to death In a world of cut and thrust I was always taught to trust In a world where all must fail Heaven's justice will prevail

Sometimes the angels punish us by answering our prayers

What did I see? Fool that I was A goddess with wings on her heels All my illusions projected on her The ideal I wanted to see

All I know is that sometimes you have to be wary of a miracle to good to be true All I know is that sometimes the truth is contrary everything in life you thought you knew

The measure of a life is a measure of love and respect So hard to earn so easily burned

Time is still the infinite jest

This album is epic and inspiring and like any great story draws so many parallels to real life. One of the best albums ever made!

I'd post my review but it's in French. Suffice to say I called it "Mechanics of Angels" and am very enthusiastic about it too.
