You forgot to mention / left out their second album, Garden of Eden, which, if memory serves me right, is just as good as the debut.

Anyway, great album that needs recognition.
Also worth mentioning is that singer Gerd Salewski did a lot of vocals on Crystal Eyes' 2003 album Vengeance Descending.

I haven't been able to track down Garden of Eden, that's the only CR album I don't have. I've been looking for that one for quite a while now. This album was tough enough to find, but I believe it was reissued a few years ago, which makes it a bit easier to find.

Dude this is awesome!! I was expecting something way different. I'll bet a lot of the posters would dig this. I think the vocals sound like Kiske at times, even the guitar tones sound like early Helloween.

My knowledge of Scanner is very limited, so I wouldn't know to compare the two vocalists.

 You're missing out!

Ralf Scheepers was the original vocalist for this band, but got the Gamma Ray gig before ever recording anything with Scanner. You can go and get Hypertrace and Mental Reservation blindly, and be assured that you'll like them. Ralf Scheepers was the original vocalist for this band, but got the Gamma Ray gig before ever recording anything with Scanner. Hypertrace is classic late 80's power metal (similar to this) with a Sci-Fi theme. Damn good power metal at that! S.L. Coe (ex Angel Dust) came on board for the next album, Terminal Earth. Great album, but Coe's vocals are more of an acquired taste for some. I happen to like his vocals. Songs on this album are catchy as hell. Mental Reservation is a great blend of melodic power metal and thrash, with excellent vocals (forget the vocalists name off the top of me head; he went by a couple different names in his career). MR and Hypertrace and my 2 fave Scanner albums. Ball of the Damned features the same vocalist as MR, but the songs aren't as strong. Scheepers also makes a guset appearance on this album. After this album, Scanner went on hiatus. Last year, they returned with a medicore at best female singer and release Scantropolis. That album is more progressive in nature, with much less intensity and power. Decent album, but can't hold a flame to the greatness of the band's past.

Right on dude. This band rocks, I'm listening to "Power and Glory" at the moment and all I can say is, Holy crap!

BTW I got a couple of Scanner albums, but I haven't had a chance to listen to them yet.
