Agreed with your review, if there are any metalcore survivors, then Himsa will be amongst them.

+1

Himsa is a great band.

However, I think that "Horror" is spelled wrong. :P

Hrmm sounds promising, I will have to look into this. I think I always pass over them at the cd store because the name always seemed a little odd to me. This isn't the band that has the symbol of a half pentagram half heart thingy is it?? Or is that H.I.M.? Fuck I can't keep up.

That'd be the love-metal band H.I.M., a band that is complete shite btw.

i kinda like it when the second half of the cd is better than the first. I hate being let down liking the first half, then having the second half be shit, I'd rather be suprised and ending on a decent note.

I thought the first album was pretty good when I got it a few years ago, Himsa was definitely one of the brighter stars in the scene, but the vocals can be pretty irritating (not to mention some really stupid song titles). I was hoping they might improve with time, but the vocals actually seem to have gotten worse on the new song I heard. Still, the rest of the band seems intent on staying darker and more interesting than their peers, and I still admire them for that.

Anyone who has heard the first album, how strong is this compared to that one? It had some great songs but ultimately wasn't quite as consistent as I would have liked, is this one about the same?

I haven't heard the first album, but if you've only heard the single (sleezevil) try some the other stuff later in the album first as there is quite a big gap in quality. Quite odd for a single, no idea why they chose to go with it. The vocals aren't incredible but they don't grate on me as many metalcore vocalists do.
