Ouch! THose are some harsh words. I didn't think this album was all that bad. I actually enjoyed it. It isn't nearly as good as the first two as Mike stated in the review, but it is still a solid release.

I actually felt the quote was lower than what the review suggested. I felt the review suggested something more like 59/100.

I gave it a 70/100.

BTW the three tracks Mike suggested are the best.

Now that's a realistic score.I agree fully with you Mike. The only album worth buying (or listening) is Millenium Metal. No other album of theirs has managed to demonstrate that raw power they had on Chapter 1.I guess it was only curiosity that made me to check all their albums.
This one gets an honorable score of 55, which makes it as bad as Chapter 4 and slightly better than Hero Nation.I hope the band stops now and decides to do something else...something more creative.

Eeeeeew....judging by the songs I've heard from this album, it could seriously be one of the worst power metal albums I've ever heard. I really hate Basse's vocals on those songs, and the narrations...Jesus Fucking Christ I thought that Rhapsody had cheesy narrations on SoEL part 1... :?

How could you hate his vocals? I mean, I can see somebody hating them for how they are used, but he is an outstanding vocalist. Ah, poopies.

Is this the band Apollo from Firewind was previously in? Or am I thinking of their new drummer Mark Cross?

Hmmm.... I think that is the drummer. Apollo is from Time Requiem. I can not wait to hear what Firewind brings with this line up.

You haven't heard any Metalium?

No. Nor Time Reqiuem for that matter.

I'll have a listen to both. Which albums do you recommend sampling (I'll only grab a few tracks from each)?

Well for songs get:

Metalium:

Steel Avengers
Fight
Strike Down the Heathen
Metalium

Time Requiem:

Hidden Memories
Quest of a Million Souls
Milagros Charm
Brutal Mentor (HOLY CRAP this is an awesome instrumental!!)
Above and Beyond

I could list a lot more, but this is a good start.

BTW, niether band is really spectacular, but they are still both damn good. They also don't sound anything alike.

Indeed he's a very talented vocalist but his ultra high wailing ruins many songs for me. I do need to get into this band, cause they have some good songs on their earlier albums.

Apollo is also in a band Meduza which you might like despite ridiculously low scores. Also he was in Majestic, but I don't have that yet, but guessing it is pretty similar style.

Thanks, Winter, I'll have a listen.

I liked his voice on the TR stuff, but I'm not sure if it's the right voice for Firewind. :? Time will tell.

I agree, but he is flexible I think he can sing more aggressive.

Millenium Metal is the only album of theirs worth owning. It was a fast downhill slide for this band after that. The songwriting in particular has sucked the most. I wonder if Chris Caffery and Mike Terrana's input on Millenium Metal and subsequent departure had anything to do with it?

Henning Basse is far too talented to be wasting his time with this joke of a band. There are excellent bands out there in need of a good singer like him.
