i'm not very happy with release - while it isn't horrible, i think the original is a ten times better. it sounds like there is absolutely no energy in Dee's voice and, quite frankly, while the production is better i actually like the old sound of the instruments compared to the new recording. the bass is definately batter but i believe the drums are a tad too harsh and the guitaring dry. the weakest point is Dee's vocals though. its very obvious that he's older and time has taken it's toll. the backup vocals in "i want to rock" even sound weak.

anyways i'll stick to both the original and Dimmu's version of Burn in Hell... this new recording does make the cut for me, despite the 7 new tracks

Dimmu's Burn in Hell cover is great; I love how Vortex sings on it.

Actually, I wish more bands would do this. Many classic 80s albums really don't hold up well today production-wise, and remastering or doing some re-recording never quite cuts it. Just do the whole thing over.

One thing I would like to see is bands taking better advantage of the superior keyboard sounds available. Guitars and drums are still guitars and drums, just like they were in the 80s. Sound quality improvements are noticeable, but not revolutionary. The keyboard, however, going from analog to digital, is completely different now, and I'd love to see a band like Europe re-interpret Final Countdown with the new keyboard sounds. Mic Michaeli doesnt' sound like he's learned anything new judging from the Brazen Abbot records, so they could maybe get Vitalij Kuprij for such a project?
