Heh, looks like I should've waited to start that "Black Majesty" thread in the Heavy/Prog/Power Forum.

Anyway, Good album. It took me a few spins to get into this, but it is definitely a solid release. And the vocals are fantastic. I can see the Kahn comparison, except I think this guy has more range.

Will be checking this out.

I don't listen to the debut often, but its always great when I do.

From what you have written, it deserves a higher score than 79. I've seen reviews written like that and gotten 85+. Whats the deal? I have it in the low 90's and thats not because i am australian. No favourtism. Just a killer album

The solution to the over-the-top scores often handed out on this site is not to give more good albums high scores to match, but to start handing out realistic scores as often as possible.

79/100 - that's like 8/10. That's really good. There have been very few albums this year that I would give more than 8/10.

I've been guilty in the past of over quoting albums. Many times I look back several months later after reviewing an album and find that some are between 5 and 10 points too high in the quote. This new Black Majesty album is a very good album but falls a bit short to be in the outstanding range (80-89). I could've very easily scored this 80-85 but there's just not enough stand out tracks in my opinion. I still recommend it and judging by the scores of the readers, many of them like it as well. This is going to be a band to watch out for......

Definitely a better effort over Sands of Time, which was mediocre. With improved songwriting and great vocalist Silent Company delivers what is required for above the average PM album. Two great songs (Silent Company, Darkened Room) and the rest very enjoyable, this album gets a score of 75 from me.I expect nothing but excelence on their 3rd effort.
