Marty,
I haven't heard this album but you are exactly on the mark with your analysis of Dreamtale. I thought both the previuos releases were good but with a good vocalist they would have been great!! The strength of songwriting is much better than many higher rated bands. I just hope they will get the line-up right and survive

I thought this album was way better than Ocean's Heart, but right on par with Beyond Reality.. Dreamtale (for me) are an amazing band when they are on the mark, sometimes they miss by abit, but even then it's usually still well done and listenable. I thought this was a great review, you nailed it. With one exception, I disagree about the singer, this new singer is wayyyy better and I didn't cringe at all, I thought he was fantastic all around. But thats just my opinion, anyways, great review.

I just hope this isn't the end of Dreamtale or I will cry and skydive on a cactus... or just listen to something else.

Dreamtale has been one of my favorites for some time now. I agree that this new one goes on the same line as Beyond Reality... almost since it's my favorite.
They were asked what is better and different about this band compared to others in the genre. They replied "You won't get bored with the singer..." :) Each of their three albums have had a different singer.

i think acording to the site, The new singer is already gone, so there will be a 4th on the next album. I think i read somewhere they were auditioning tho i cannot confirm this.

It's true, since the singer on their third album left for another band called Teräsbetoni to sing very Manowarish songs in finnish :)...

WRONG. The original vocalist was Rami Keränen, who sang on the both demos and on the first album. (He's still on the band as guitar player - he sounds, vocally, quite like Kai Hansen.) He wanted to concentrate on the guitar (Hansen, anyone? :) and then they got Viiltola for the 2nd album.

Ahola is the singer of Teräsbetoni, too - it's a great Finnish True Metal band á la Manowar et al, the lyrics are though in Finnish, but nevertheless Ahola proves he's THE Finnish heavy metal vocalist. Because of Teräsbetoni he has parted ways with Dremtale...

I like his voice for the most part but there's a couple of songs where he really sings off key and strains his voice. Thanks for the comments......I really like Dreamtale but they'll never reach their full potential until they get a solid lead vocalist who will do the material justice..

The first album I heard from Dreamtale was Ocean's Heart. I haven't heard their E.P. or Beyond Reality. So, considering full length albums only, they've had a different singer for each one!!! I've never heard of a band doing that before......I try to be as accurate as possible with my reviews but we can't be perfect. As far as you having to register to "correct mistakes of a review"...welcome to the forums.....come back soon.......

No, what really sucks is when people correct an honest mistake in a review, but feel the need act like a pompous know-it-all in the process. There are a lot of knowledgable people on these forums, but when that knowledge is balanced by arrogance and immaturity, it's all for naught. Grow up.

Maybe one day, we'll all be as perfect as you, never making a mistake. Sorry you had to go to such trouble to register in order to correct the mistake, I guess we'll refund the fee that you pay to visit this site  .

I've had this album stowed away for months and only finally listened to it tonight for the first time, and holy shit! I'm so impressed.

Contrary to the comments on the vocalist, I think he's fantastic (and I'm now disappointed to know he's gone...) - sounds somewhere between Marco Heitala and Tony Kakko. I think I've just figured out what a Finnish accent sounds like.

What I really dig is the eighties rock-style melodies, very uplifting and anthemic. I'll be looking back over the rest of their discography with interest.
