I saw a few Anthrax songs at Sweden Rock '05, and I was for the most part impressed. Belladonna was bit here-and-there, but I thought Spitz was most impressive for a man who (allegedly) didn't touch a guitar between 1994 and the reunion.

Anyway, this record is a an obvious cash-in, I won't be buying it.

I've already posted my comments on this album quite some time ago. But I'll post them again.

I totally disagree about Belladonna. Particularly on Deathrider you can tell he really struggles to hit those high notes like he used to. And his performance on a couple songs does sound kind of forced. On Deathrider, he almost sounds like he's trying to imitate Ted Nugent.

As for the production, it's good except that Joey's vocals are sometimes drowned out in the mix. Odd, since his vocals were supposedly the main selling point for this show.

I also never understood why Madhouse was cut out of the CD version. But I have an MP3 of the song, and let me tell you, it's probably one of the best songs of the entire show. If anybody's interested, PM me and I can send it to you.

Pure cash in. Why are they doing this? WCFYA did pretty well, no need to regress into 80s nostalgia.

Did pretty well or not, I'd sooner listen to them with Belladonna. I'll probably go see them when they play Glasgow in April, something I'd certainly not do if Bush was still holding the mic.

Is he the official vocalist and this is just a tour, or is he out? Deep down in your heart, you know there's not that much difference between the two (well, Bush looks more like Bruce Willis, but apart from that...).

Well apart from the fact that these days Bush sounds like Chad Kroeger. He's a totally different type of vocalist to Joey.

As for the line-up situation, who knows? If they want to make another thrash album, great. If not, I'll accept seeing the classic line-up live and then forget about them again.

Bush is out of Anthrax? Then maybe he will record something finally with Armored Saint. This man's talent was being wasted in Anthrax.

When I heard Anthrax was bringing back Belladonna to cash in on a reunion tour, I groaned. Belladonna is one of the reasons why I don't care much for Anthrax's older material. I love a lot of the guitar riffs and instrumental work, but Joey's singing would turn me off of most of the songs because I think his trebly voice doesn't work with the music at all. By contrast I thought they improved greatly by picking up John Bush, who I also liked in Armored Saint. His voice put a lot of power into the Joey-era songs that Joey just couldn't provide (listen to Music of Mass Destruction or Greater of Two Evils and see for yourself) and I was rather disheartened when Scott decided to bring back Joey.

Just look at the list of things Anthrax have released recently. Next will come the live cd and dvd of the same songs with each of them playing different instruments, then the 'unmasked' make-up reunion tour, then the Andy Sneap remixes....sigh.
The cd with John Bush redoing the tracks had some point to it, but it seems like they're testing the market to see which line-up will actually help pay for their kids college education.
Plus! Any band that lets their record company release a live dvd without the live cd included is just ripping off their fans.
They were a good enough novelty band in their hey-day, now they are just a novelty.

I saw Anthrax a few months back with Priest, and they kicked arse. Just one song from Persistence of Time, with most of the songs from Among the Living.

Joey's voice just fits that 80s groove thrash and Anthrax's general 'fun' attitude a lot better than Bush. The is a very laid back and cool frontman in the flesh as well.

However, I think their catalogue is beginning to look almost as shameless as Kiss' and Iron Maiden's, maybe even worse.

Yeah, honestly Bush ruined Anthrax and he was only passable with Armored Saint, even too OTT on March of the Saint.
