As my fellow writers here at metalreviews know and are probably tired of me saying, I think Sacred Steel is awesome.

I have all of their releases and they keep improving. My favorite is still Bloodlust but musically they improve every release. The fact of the matter is Sacred Steel have the most bone crushing and head splitting riffs of any Power Metal band. To say this has been done before but better I disagree. Name another power band that combines 80's power, speed, and thrash into their riffs and are as consistently heavy, aggressive, and full of head banging goodness as Sacred Steel are? The music has a decent amount of variety. They use the fast double bass heavy tracks a little too much but they do mid-paced songs well, too.

As for the vocals. Let me put it this way: if Sacred Steel were to have a different, arguably "better" singer, they would not be Sacred Steel anymore. Mutz gives the band character and nobody sings like him. Sure, he's out of tune every now and then and he's kind of high pitched but when it comes down to it I still sing along to the choruses and verses and it defines the rawness and pure, death to posers metal that Sacred Steel display.

Strangely enough, it's usually the Edguy, Thunderstone, Sonata Arctica worshippers who hate this band and the raw Black and Death Metal fans who love this band. If you read reviews of this band from raw black fans they'll usually cite that the pureness, simplicity, and the no frills approach of Sacred Steel is their greatest appeal. The fact that the riffs are so incredibly in your face only sweetens the pot. Bonus points for awesome death vocals. Sure they are a little random at times, but there isn't really a precedent for this and they add a lot to the kick ass factor of the music regardless.

Well, I can name another band right here in this week's reviews: Steel Attack. These guys have come a long way since their happy power metal days of the first 2 albums. They do a great job combining raw power, thrashy riffs, and aggressiveness. Furthermore, they have a competent vocalist. Ronny Hemlin adds his own deathy growls, but they are not random; instead they are strategically and logically placed such that the more agressive tunes on the disc are given an even harder edge. You'll also hear some slower, almost doomy section where Hemlin sounds like Dio's twin brother. Give me some time, and I'm sure I can come up with several other bands in response to your question.

Steel Attack is obsolete to me. The music is decent to good, but nothing that hasn't been done before, or been done better with a quality vocalist. With the shitty vocals, I find no use for this. However, to each their own. I'm glad that somebody likes these guys  .

Guys, this is honestly your worst week of reviews ever, and I've seen some pretty bad weeks in the past.

Opeth at 97 (an album that, at best, sucks a mountain of pasty ass), Sacred Steel at 40 (an album that rules), and underrating both the Dragonland and the Steel Attack albums simply because they're far improved and more refined than their raw and unpolished earlier efforts?

You all suck.

Or maybe you simply just don't get it

I haven't heard the new Sacred steel so i cannot judge this one

Morningrise is an excellent Opeth album but maybe it was quoted a bit too high.Something like 90 would have been better. It certainly don't suck though.

As for Dragonland , i stated that you overhyped the album in your review and i stand by my position.I really don't see how it is such a great masterpiece and it's certainly not one of the best album of all time (now that's quite ridiculous)..

The folks here don't suck , they just see things in a different way than you do so you will have to live with it.

For crying out loud learn to live with other people's opinion. Stop acting like you're some kind of authority on metal by constantly judging other people's reviews because someone gives an album a high score or low you disagree with. It would be interesting if you provided actual constructive feedback instead of coming across as a pompous ass all the time.

The last comment was a little too far. You don't ALL suck. Ben is pretty cool.
