Bob's voice is legendary. I'll check this out at some stage, but its not exactly a top priority. When Empires Burn was really good (and I was also pleasantly surprised by the Magnum comeback album).

Good album, but you are right Mike, the expectations were too high due to "when empire burns", overall a little better than his other albums but not as good as WEB, still it should please many fans, Bob's vocals alone are more than enough for giving this album a chance.

By the way Mike, what do you think of Catley's "Middle Earth" album?

Well, listened just one time, but I found it incredible... The voice of Bob Catley is better with the years... A lot of great songs, 3 weak ones (specially Beautiful Night and Walk on water) and a great album, a very good follow up to another impressive album. Yes, When empires burn is better, but not as greater as to shadow this album, that stands almost at the same level.
Moment of truth, Blinded by the light, The fire within me and specially, End of story, are the best songs of the album, for me...

For me it's a 88/100.

If you like the more epic song structures of Ten, you'll like both The Tower and MIddle Earth. Of course, if you're a fan of Tolkein and the band Ten, you'll love The Tower, even if it is a bit laid back.

I really like Ten, even the calmer side of Ten, so I like earlier Catley solo albums. I would even say that pre WEB Catley solo album almost exactly sounds like Ten, but with Catley instead of Hughes singing.

However, I do have to say that I prefer the heavier edge of WEB to his earlier solo stuff.
