I'm not a big fan of the choruses on this album. It has some great riffs but once the choruses hit I'm kinda turned off.

I find it odd that most people completely discount Insanity... I love that album and most fail to even recognize it for its technicality... which blows most of their recent stuff away. As Rusted Angel is my favorite, Insanity is still awesome.

As for this album, Kayla mentions that "The Creation Insane" is a bad closer. Now is it being said that the song sucks as a closer, or sucks altogether? I hope not entirely, because I think it is a very solid song. I agree about it being a bad closer, but the song still smokes.

"The Creation Insane" is a bad closer; as a song it's simply unremarkable.

If you agree about it being a bad closer, then you agree with Kayla. She didn't mention it sucking at all. She said it's a bad closer.

EDIT: Insanity is my favorite Darkane album, by the way.

Yea, I know I agree with her. She made it sound like one of their crappiest songs ever made, so I just wanted to know clarification... 'tis all.

Agreed, as well as the Meshuggah style breaks. I prefer the Non-Human Level album to Darkane because it doesnt have these xD

Another great review. This and Expanding Senses are the only Darkane albums I'm yet to hear. A friend of mine told me the choruses were well done on this album. I guess we'll see. I off for some more Darkane.

I prefer this work to Expanding Senses.Layers Of Lies is a masterpiece of agressive, yet catchy metal.Much more well rounded overall than their previous album.The choruses are excellent, and much more so cause you can't see them coming amidst the punishment from the riffs and verses! Good punishment though! And if the last song is a bad closer...keep them bad then, Darkane guys!!!!!
