Andy Kuntz! Haha. Makes me laugh every time because I imagine how stupid his name would be if his parents named him Randy. :D Anyway, I have been meaning to check this band out for a long time, this review just reinforces that desire. It sounds really cool.

I have the Abydos album so I know the dude can sing.

Van den Plas is a cool band, I like it a lot ever since I heard Far off Grace and Beyond Daylight. But I havent heard the earlier albums.
I will definitely have to check this one.

I cant wait for this to come out, Ive been waiting ages, and they are my favorite prog band. Unfortunatly the release has been postponed till the 24th of April :(

All of their albums are excellent but they get allot of crap from people who claim they are just trying to make Images and Words album after album. This is totally unjust, I think they are a very talented bunch and definitly are allot more consistant than allot of their contemporarys (DT included). Check out their earlier albums, particularly AcCult, its all acoustic and AWESOME (actually comes in a double cd pack with the first album Colour Temple on InsideOut)

And yeah Andys name makes me chuckle too, can you imagine them calling his name in school, is Andy here? Andy Kuntz :)

Just saw them perform live 2 days ago. Even though they only played two songs of their new album (a real shame) their performance was rock solid. Strangely enough there were only 146 people at that show.

It's not released yet (I think) but fortunately I could pick up a copy of Christ 0 at their show. I have been playing it almost exclusively for 2 days now, and I don't think it'll come out of my CD player anytime soon.

This CD is filled with grand, emotional and heavy songs in their recognizible style. And Andy Kuntz sounds better than ever before

Great stuff!!

NP - Vanden Plas - wish You Were Here

Hey Radagast check out the following tracks, they are some of my favorites

When the Wind Blows from Colour Temple (the main riff sounds like Breaking the Silence from Queensryche)

Judas from Colour Temple

My Crying from Colour Temple, but try to get the AcCult version AWESOME

Iodic Rain from Far Off Grace

Into the Sun from Far Off Grace

Rainmaker from The God Thing

In You I Believe from The God Thing

Cold Wind from Beyond Daylight

Free the Fire from Beyond Daylight

In fact if you can get Spirit of Live check it out, It got reviewed on metalreviews awhile ago, I think its an excellent example of their talent, great set selection though it only covers tracks from their first 3 albums and they sound awesome live (which hopefully one day ill get to see)

To correct my earlier post, the album is out now, I just bought it from JB Hifi (to my surprise they had it so soon). The bands US website www.faroffgrace.com said that the release was delayed, perhaps thats only for the US local release. Sorry bout that !

PS from what Ive heard so far, this was worth the wait, AWESOME

I think I missed this review when I was taking my "little break" from the boards. I wish I would've discovered them a little sooner. I tried them out a while back when I got a recommendation from Rad, thought they were pretty good for prog, but it usually takes me a while to get into prog, so I put them on the shelf to collect dust. Then I read Adam's list for 2006 saw as his second favorite (wtf? ). Coming from a doom fan, that surprised me, so I decided to re-listen to then and. Gave it a couple more spins and now holy crap my pants have shit in them. I love this album from start to finish. To top it off I literally just read The Count of Monte Cristo. Great book, so of course I love the concept as well.

I gotta keep you on your toes.

Prog is actually one of my favorite genres, and this really is an amazing album. The more I listen to it, the more I wonder if it should have been first on my list.

The only reason I haven't bought this is yet is because I want to finish reading the book first. I heard a couple of song and I was impressed. I WILL get this soon enough. Too bad I'm a slow reader :D

I'm going to have to say Silently is the best track on here. It is actually one of the best tracks I've heard in a loooong time. Overall, this album gets a 93/100 from me. Highly recommended.
