Yeah, it's certainly unusual. However musically (riffing and drumming wise) there's not a vast difference between modern metalcore and old school bands such as Priest. The difference usually come in with the vocals and solos (or lack of) and of course the lyrical content. This band kinda meld the two, some of the riffs sound decidedly 80's-ish and the lyrics for the most part are definately not modern metalcore fare.
