I agree with the review for the most part. I think it's a solid album, and is an enjoyable lsiten. The problem is the songs don't do enough to stand out from one another. It all becomes a blur after a while. A brutally crushing blur that will have you banging you head while it's playing. But after it's over you're left with an aching neck and a feeling of not being sure of what just happened. Fans of Black or Death Metal with hints of Thrash will find something to like with this album, but it's not an essential release. I give it a 68, it's a good effort, but merely good.

Thanks there Eternal Idol. Remember folks, according to the site that I have been chosen to write for, a score in the 50s is of MEDIUM quality. Don't think it is the same thing as a band getting a 59 on a test.

EDIT- I failed to mention that the drumming is the best aspect of this band, at least on this album. He pulls off some pretty impressive fills in a number of the songs.

I've heard of goatwhore, but only the name. From the name, I expected to sound something like Cannibal Corpse, i guess not.

I like Goatwhore, but it's true...it's a good album that suffers from a lot of sameness from riff to riff, and song to song.

It's a step up from Funeral Dirge for the Rotting Sun though, that album was even more monotonous. My favorite is still Serenades To the Tides of Blood...maybe because it's only 21 minutes.
