I would definately call this gem of an album true hard rock. It is by far the heaviest and most hardrocking album Meat has never done and the production is just amazing. A great choir and the Melbourne Symphony orchester in the background just building up the choruses, very impressing.

The title track seemed a bit too nu-metal for me to begin with, but it will grow on to you and after each listen you will end up loving it even more => a pure metal gem! :dio:

Land of the pigs is a very intresting tune, nothing like anything you heard before. Some kind of symphonic gothic metal with meat loaf influnces, will take a few listens before you grow into it, but once you do, you will really appreciate this original tune.

There was also a track that was about 10 minutes and starts off with a 2 minutes orchestra. This track was meant to be on Batman the musical written by Jim Steinman (land of the pigs was also part of this project), but the project was abonded. Very great song, however, Jim stole the main riff from Back Into hell from Bat2 album.

The songs very A LOT, however keeping up the very high standard. I'm Alive sounds like a big bon jovi smash hit from the 80s spiced up with gospel choirs...

Very good album and I think "If God would talk" is really also an awsome track. The only 2 tracks that i don't really feel keeping the high standard of this album would probably be the 2 last tracks. The album will grow on you. Give it a chance, since it is like no other album in your collection.

Having heard a song, I can only hope this guy isn't serious. If he is, I don't think I could really enjoy this.

If youre referring to the numetal thing, its not really that bad. The opening riff on The Monster Is Loose has the same kind of nu-quality that was present in Ozzy's Gets Me through. Just sluggish, jagged, modernized. But thats it with the "nuisms", there are all the trademark vocalchoirs, strings, blown out walls of pounding drums et al. So dont be afraid of the album just because of one riff. Not to mention that over half of the albums other anthemic rock just slays that one track.

The Monster is Loose is a great song. You can definitely tell someone from Marilyn Manson helped to write it though.

I don't care for his music, but he's an awesome dude. I hope he does more acting soon, he's really good at it.

Hahaha! It was actually an honest question, though. Don't get me wrong, I heard the song, and I thought it was pretty cool and then I found out it was Meat Loaf and I thought "Meat Loaf? The Meat Loaf? As in Bob with bitch-tits?" I just thought it was kinda awkward and wondered if he was being serious about this, 'cuz is music is really waaaay over-the-top.

I've been enjoying this album quite a bit since Halloween. I can't seem to go a week without craving to hear it. Definitely on par with the other Bat Out of Hells.

The second half of the album has a Trans-Siberian Orchestra feel to it, and that's always a plus in my book!

I agree with the score. There are some truly kick ass songs here. I'm really digging "Blind as a Bat", great chorus. Alive and The Monster is Loose are also great tracks. I haven't heard a Meat Loaf song since Bat out Of Hell 2, and I'm really impressed that his voice is still as powerful as it is.
