I own Capitol Punishment. I doubt very seriously I will buy this one. Good review.

I hate when metal bands use the term "Greatest Hits". It sounds too commercial. They should just use "Best of" or some other creative title.

 no new songs ! so why buying it ?! but it's a good start for young people with a lots of missing song so I say : download it, check from which albums your fav songs are and then buy the albums ! :D

the only stupid a$$es involved here are the record company & the band.. imo

The songs on this album were actually chosen by fans on the message board, so while I agree that it is pretty fucking stupid and useless of Megadeth to make yet another best of (their third in the past 5 years), I would also like to blame Megadeth fans for having such bad taste in Megadeth songs for the most part and choosing the exact same songs that were on Capital Punishment.

well, Anthrax did the same thing with The Greater of two Evils only they re-recorded the songs for the occasion... so it made it interesting which is not the case with this Megadeth greatest hits (and ho, yeah, the title sucks !)

I liked Anthrax's "Best Of" because of the fact that they re-recorded the songs. The main reason I don't buy "Best Of"s is because that it's just all the same songs you've heard before packaged into a nice little CD case. More bands should take the Anthrax route.

Exactly. For example, if you take Iced Earth's two best ofs, you have one, Days of Purgatory which is awesome because they re-recorded all the old songs with Barlow on vocals and added parts here and there, so it was actually interesting. Then their new one is just everything rehashed all over again, with most of the stuff being on Alive in Athens anyway since they didn't include the newest material. Bullshit. And I agree about the title... If they call it Back to the Start, why didn't they just include their early material?

Well Youre right about the Blessed and the damned iced earth album, its totally useless, but just to mention that its only to blame century media, iced earth had already changed labels when the blessed and the damned came out, thats why there are no new tracks, they were no property of century media, it was just a last effort to make some money out of iced earth.

Yeah actually I like the "Alive in Athens" songs on "The Blessed and the Damned." That's about all I like though.

The best thing about liking a band is to own all of their studio records, and so you have all the songs.

I hate "best of" albums, and even more if they have one or two new songs, that's crap just to make more money.

I picked this up cheap as a starting point for the 'deth, just to get a good spread of their albums, which is unusual for me as I never buy best ofs
