Am I the only one that finds all the songs on Damage Done sound the same? Its a decent album but from the mp3s of have of earlier albums and my highly cherished The Gallery album, Damage Done pales in comparison. The emotion is just not in the music and it really does sound like im listening to the same song over and over...

If you aren't into their new sound, it can sound after a single spin of the album as though it was all one big composition. However, each song has it's own story, and varies enough without breaking the solid, consistant vibe the album puts forth.

Give it a few more listens, friend.

Damage Done was great. All the songs really stuck with me. I found them to be memorable.

Great review alex. I really enjoyed damage done, but this EP just kicks total ass. I've been listening it at the gym for like 2 weeks non-stop and it has yet to become the least bit tiresome.

Jason.

I second that. Can't wait until the LP comes out!

And I third it. I've actually heard from other sources (think it was a user review on metal-archives) that said the other songs on the album are more diverse and more aggressive than in the past. I'm anticipating January 25 more than December 25.

Septimus, a lot of people answered you before I had a minute. It might be that you need more listens of DD to appreciate it better. Every song is gripping. Once you listen to it many times you'd be melting in anticipation, like I am getting really antsy to hear the mosntrous riff of Hours passed in Exile the second The Final Resistance ends. It is one of DTs better qualities - their albums don't ever get boring with me, and they only get better (I discover more and more nuggets) every time I spin them. Hopefully, you will lern to like DD more, and all fo us will enjoy Character.

The new track is great.

The two middle ones are pretty cool.

The live track... well... the band was fine, but he REALLY can't sing (and by sing I mean clear vocals; his growls are fine).

I love Stanne's clean vocals on much maligned Projector (and I know I am a minority). I agree live his clean vox are not as good as on the album, they are way back in the mix and do not project emotion, he is being drowned by the instruments and almost talks instead of singing. That is why I said I am not sure why Undo Control was included a ilive track on EP, after all they had a choice of 20 more off that DVD.

His growls are pretty bad live in my opinion, though in the studio he's one of the best vocalists, clean or harsh, in metal.

If you want a good example of an awesome vocalist live: Howard Jones from Killswitch Engage. He's got his powerful clean singing voice perfect live, and his screams, low and high, kick ass. He's a great live vocalist. I only brought him up because he uses a similar clean singing style, but he's outstanding at it. He's an outstanding vocalist.

...*Hugs Killswitch Engage/Unearth tickets for January.*

He had the voice pretty close for the growls, but he sounded out of breath. But yeah, I heard another live track with the growling and I wasn't overly impressed by his live performance.
