Great review Cody, fucking great album, pure headbanging moshing madness.

What I find humorous, is that the vast majority of the so called hardcore/metalcore bands of today (regardless of the quality of their music), probably have never heard this album.

very true, but i would like to add that also alot of so called metalheads of today dont listen to bands like this just because the word "hardcore" is on the genre, i swear that i was in my local metal shop last week, and i was talking to the clerk and he wanted to listen to DRI, and all of a sudden this so called black metalhead kid interrupted and said: "Dont listen to that shit, listen to REAL metal, hardcore sucks", to make the story short that kid idea of hardcore was Trivium, WTF?.

This album is awesome. I like their newer stuff better because I feel they have more of a distinct sound nowadays, but this is quality stuff. Very aggresive, and sweet riffiage a plenty.

As for DRI, they were Crossover Thrash before there was such a thing, and you should have kicked that kid in the balls.

Not a classic!? One of those albums that I loved from the first time I heard it, yet sadly never give it enough plays. I cut my teeth on Blind and this album is a totally different beast, but equally great.

I get the feeling most Metalcore people today have not actually listened to any hardcore at all - in fact none of he guys I used to know that very hardcore actually listened to any hardcore and couldn't tell you who Black Flag or Sick Of It All were.

To them hardcore was Trivium or Parkway Drive.

Also the "straightedgers" I knew believed it was ok to drink alcohol if someone brought it for you and that chicken kebabs after said alcohol was also perfectly ok and not violating straight edge codes.

As for Corrosion, I do prefer their Southern Metal stuff more but Animosity and their other Crossover albums are still good fun.

Oh, cool, you knew posers? Fun story. Do people not realize that there are hardcore scenes as much as there are metal scenes and that idiots abound everywhere insofar as they are a microcosm of the larger society, which surprisingly contains idiots in it? Go to an actual hardcore show and you'll see love for Integrity and Black Flag. Talk to douchebags and yeah you'll hear douchebaggery.

The douchebags were the whole "Hardcore" scene at the time.

Though as I stated in the another thread, the local metal guys weren't much better.

This is a small regional city we're talking about with a limited gene pool.

Lots of younger bands value the older school, I can't go to a show without a handful of em wearing Chain of strength, Youth of today, or Gorilla Biscuits shirts. It depends on the individual and how much they value the music and of course bands play covers, do you think they're gonna just fill the set with nothing?

There are many distinct styles of hardcore, all of them influenced by the bands that pioneered the sound way before them.
