Excellent review Dylan, good comparison to behemoths detraction from black metal! admitting im a bit of an AN fanboy, despite the positive review, why did u only give it an 84?It is still a fair score in my humble opinion, not havin a dig, jus wandering.

I really try to hold out on my 90s. Like the site says, those are for materpieces, something that is REALLY amazing. And yes, my review was quite positive, and I felt this album was outstanding so I gave it a score in the 80s. The reason I gave it an 84 instead of an 85 is cause I just felt like being a dick. :P Thanks for the props!

I'm ashamed to own nothing by Anaal Nathrakh, is this album a good starting point?

Cheers to you lauding Irrumator, by the way. His breakcore/industrial track on Aborym's With No Human Intervention shows that he's mastered that field as well. Quite a gifted chap.

I think you should get Domine Non Es Dignus first and then this, to see how much they evolved.

This is awesome! This album has it all... A powerful display of sonic violence, sinister passages and moments of melodic epicness. The clean choruses work extremely well between the black-hearted growls and the regurgitated screaming. This is what I imagine it would sound like if Godflesh, Mercenary and Deathspell Omega got together to do some grinding..

I will not quote this album yet, as it is still growing on me. But it will definitely be in the high end...

Well...do you like black metal and/or grindcore with good songwriting sensibilities? If you name off some of your favorite bands it might be a little easier to tell if you would like it or not.

Got it last night, and listened to it twice...

I like it, they've gone from annoyingly over the top (though still good) Blackdustrial, and have created "pretty" grind/noisecore, with a tinge of melody. The black metal gimmick still stands. Only the vox remain completely the same, ferocious as ever. And the clean shit doesn't ruin the songs (like last time). It's a good change for them.

(A) Few more spins are needed.

Got it last week. Pretty good album, though a bit short. My favourite tracks would be The Necrogeddon and The Yellow King.

The Necrogeddon also appears on something else right? The Codex Necro i think...(though i dont have it so im not sure)

I listened to this all day yesterday as i had never bothered to rip it to my pc, then my family moved states and i couldnt listen to it for ages :lame:

Favourites songs would be Between Shit and Piss we are Born, When the Lion Devours Both Dragon and Child, and Regression to the Mean.

This is indeed excellent, although I wonder why the clean choruses (it seems weird to call them that, but I suppose that's the best label to affix) in "Between Piss And Shit We Are Born" and "When The Lion Devours Both Dragon And Child" are so similar. It seems like they use the same melody for both, and use the same thunderclap-like sound just before launching into the choruses as well.
