I've been meaning to listen to a full album by these guys for like a billion years now. I hope they impress me more than other math rock guitar/drum duos.

Are these guys drunk? They can't even keep time.

Hmmm I think it's supposed to pretty free-form.

Sounds nice to me.

Who said music needs a steady pace? How many classical pieces have a steady pace?

You sound like that guy that stands in front of a Picasso and says "Amateur, he got the anatomy all wrong!!!".

No, I think that praising the album like you did these guys should be nailing this with precision. From what I hear, the musicianship is extremely flawed.

I suppose you haven't heard of Derek Bailey, which I mentioned in the review.
Here is a sample.
This man is an Impro guru, believe it or not, this man can actually play the guitar, just like Picasso was probably able to paint a perfect torso. I prefer his other works though. I don't care that you listen to pop-metal, but please don't criticise what I like 24/7.

If these guys are doing impromptu jams they're still not very cohesive. Phish did impromptu jams and were dead-on every time. Precise, fluid, and very cohesive as a unit. I simply said that I think this band's musicianship is flawed, there are mistakes in the timing and in their playing. They may be amazing musicians, but in the samples I hear flawed, pretentious music. It's an opinion on the music, it has nothing to do with you.

I think you're a bit too sensitive when it comes to what you review. You want only praise, anything that is not you get snotty about it and imply that somehow that person is a simpleton for not getting it. I don't criticize what you like 24/7. In fact, the last time I wrote anything in a review thread of your was back in August and oddly enough I wrote this:

Quote:
What stupidity is this, bud? I dare say the only thing stupid in this thread so far was that comment you just made. Yes, some people dislike and do not agree with what Misha reviews, myself included (most of the time), simply because it is very far outside the realm of metal, but I respect the fact that his words are honest and I would never disrespect someone who tries to open people to a different style of music. I do that all the damn time here!

But Misha is a reviewer here and this is not my website, nor is it yours or any other forumite's, so it's not our decision. Disagree with it and move on, but to call the reviews, or possibly the fact that he's reviewing it in the first place, whichever it is, "blatant stupidity" is in fact blatantly stupid.

Funny, huh? I didn't ask you to try and insult me by saying I listen to pop-metal—which is a ridiculously inaccurate statement. I simply commented on the music of your review. Again, it has nothing to do with you.

Loosen up, you didn't comment on my review, you commented on the music. I got that correct, but that doesn't mean I have to agree with you. Precise, Fluid, Cohesive, that's exactly what this kind of music is NOT about. It's Impro, not improvised funk, improvised rock or improvised jazz or improvised whatever. That's something else.

if it's no redneck music that won't appeal to Ken, you should have known that Mishellito!

I don't see why he even comments on music that is so clearly not his thing...

You don't have to agree with me. I wasn't asking you to.

I was commenting on the music Misha reviewed, as I have every right to do. Just because I wasn't blown away doesn't mean I shouldn't comment on it. The review got me interested; I took the time to listen to it and I didn't like it. So I commented on it.

You're an idiot—no, really, you are—if you think I listen to "redneck music" (whatever that is). I listen to a broader range of music and know more about music than you and Misha combined. But who cares, really? That's not the point. So please, Stefan, spare me with your inane, ignorant insults.

Yeah, I know it's just your opinion, but opinions aren't usually like "these guys can't keep time", that sounds more like a false fact to me. If you listen more carefully, you'll notice that on several occasions, these guys strike into perfect allignment out of nowhere. In the end it's just our different tastes, you like your music consonant and in one time or tempo, I can value it for being not, and you don't like Free Improvisation (the genre), and I can sometimes value it.

i checked out their Myspace (linked in your review) because of Zad's recommendation, and it got me interested. the dissonance and the melody blend in together very well.

but is this 100% improvised?

oh, and can you link some of Don Caballero's music?

What is your problem? Have you forgotten how to make a post that is anything other than an attempt to incite a flamewar with Ken? Since your most recent "return", that's all I've seen you do. Please, and I'm pretty sure I speak for many others when I say this, STOP IT!
