I've listened to this for a long time, but I still can't seem to judge it fairly. I'm sure it is very good, just takes some time to appreciate.

99/100. My favourite tracks would be A Dog-Eat-Dog World, Ruinrama Kolossal S.P.Q.R. and Generator. This is a fucking great album, miles ahead of anything a modern black metal band has the guts to put out. In my opinion it's a synopsis of their three previous albums in theme, ability and execution, brought forth with outstanding musicianship - and unlike the reviewer I have no option but to commend the addition of Faust for this remarkable rise in quality.

Buy it, no matter what you think of black metal. And yeah, I'm talking to you Ken

Yeah, you have to think the arrival of Faust and the subsequent asskickery of this album aren't necessarily a coincedence. Either way, his drumming is outstanding and makes nearly every other aspect of the music sound a lot better.

It is good but a bit overrated maybe. They've had better albums.

O RLY?

I've only heard With No Human Intervention, and only a few songs off that one. From what I heard, I thought this was much better. Which album(s) do you think are better than Generator? Just curious.

I'm one song in and I like it. I think I'm kinda sorta slowly beginning to understand the appeal of black metal.

I'd say their debut album comes close to this, albeit with a more raw sound. It can be regarded as a more polished version of Mysticum, really. You can check some of the tracks out or their site, but they're not the best on the album.

Fire Walk With Us has too few actual songs and too many instrumental interludes, and With No Human Intervention has some stand-out tracks and some uninteresting ones. Both are completely inferior to Generator.

so far the BM i've heard is:

Enslaved (ok), Ludicra (good, I'm a Jon Cobbett fanboy), Emperor - Anthems (good), Axamenta (meh), Ulver's 2 BM albums (i'm probably missing something), Negura Bunget (interesting, hasnt really 'clicked' yet)... that's all I can think of right now. I'll check out Wolves in the Throne room because my friend who is all into emo/screamo/indie/post-rock recommended them to me too :P

Good for you Noodles. Keep trying with that Negura Bunget. I don't get the constant Wolves in The Throne Room appeal but..whatever.

WNHI and FWWU were both better. I recently got Kali Yuga Bizarre too but haven't listened to all of it yet.
