I've never heard of these guys before, though it seems I should have. So I can't compare this album with their debut, which everybody praises so hard, but judging it alone, this is some impressive display of symphonic doom/gothic music. It's been ages since I heard something this good in this style (perhaps since Lacrimosa's Elodia). So it's really refreshing to hear his album, for me, not only because the music itself is so good, but also because it gives me the same feeling I get from listening to favourite albums of my youth like Elodia (on most of the album) or The Angel And The Dark River (mainly on Domine and I am Blind With Weeping), so it's that weird - but nice - feeling that you're transported in time, to an age when you were younger and the world seemed more interesting.

I also like the way the music flows and each song drips into the next, so subtle that you barely notice. I'm gonna look for their other two albums, for sure.

I really enjoy Sombre Romantic and enjoy Elegant and Dying a little less. I didn't realize that this album had come out so I look forward to picking it up.

The End Records has had some interesting releases in the past year with the Stolen Babies, UnExpect and Agalloch albums.

It seems they redid Drink the Midnight Hymn as Midnight's Hymn, which was good but the new one isn't supposedly. What's that all about?
