The score you give is just right.I think there's some filler, even though the actual "songs" are few.As a side note, the argument about technical ability: in fact, i think only the technical metal groups are kinda difficult to get into (namely Spiral Architect or Atheist - wich i love, by the way).All the progresive metal bands are perfectly accesible and tateful, with discernible melodies.
Just my opinion.

Really good album for me, I'd rate it an 83. Some might feel there is some "filler" on this album, but even Pantommind's filler is very good. I ranked it the same as Circus Maximus's 1st Chapter album a couple years ago, and CM really stepped up to the plate and delivered with their new album Isolate. I believe Pantommind will do the same.

I've had the privilege of hearing some of Pantommind's "work in progress" on the new album and it is sounding right on par, if not better than Shade of Fate.
