Naglfar sucks. I hated Sheol. Something that fast couldn't be more boring.

Agreed, if I thought Sheol was an utterly boring suckfest, does that mean that I should stay away Harvest as well?

I agree with the synopsis, for it is a band that is mediocre and unimpressive in anything they put out.

Yes, Sheol was a purse of shit, but let's not forget the fact that this band has sucked from the get-go.

i used to like Sheol a lot, but yeah now i don't find it that special. it has its moments though (Unleash Hell and I Am Vengeance).

but all in all i think the band gets too much attention.

For me Diabolical and Sheol were the bands finest hours. Not that Kristoffer is a bad vocalist, it's just that Jens was better. Those albums were more "chaotic" as well, with those great Dissection-ish ultra melodic guitar walls.

It's not a coincidence. Alex must've thought it would have been a cool idea to have a review of Nagelfar right next to Naglfar, as he stated in the first sentence of his review:

Quote:
I thought it would be cool to time this review with the one done for the most recent Naglfar release, to remind the audience that there was once another Nagelfar, different spelling, but the same apocalyptic ship made entirely of toe and fingernails of the dead carrying the evil to destroy the Gods in Norse mythology. This Nagelfar, sailing from Germany, was the product of creative cooperation between guitarist/bassist Zorn and Alexander von Meilenwald (drums on Kermania, the single soul behind The Ruins of Beverast). As one or the other part of the duo sailed adrift, Virus West was the last roar Nagelfar ever made.

I should read these damn things in their entirety from now on.

Loved Sheol and this one is great. Check out Vittra.

Naglfar is probably black metal for people who usually don't like pure black metal with a raw production, so I can perfectly understand why some people don't like it, yet I think they are pretty good in what they do, except they still haven't been able to top Sheol. Pariah and Harvest are just ok, IMO.

Or more like norsecore for people who don't like black metal.
