But For All Tid is fucking terrible, and Stormblast didn't influence enough bands to be considered classic.

Bergtatt, maybe.

Every self-respecting metal site should have all Opeth albums reviewed, no? The ones that are not present yet contain some of their best material, so my votes go to

Opeth - Still Life
Opeth - Orchid

Another legendary album, I feel, is:

Paradox by Royal Hunt,

best progressive/melodic metal album of 1997, save maybe for:

Symphony X's Divine Wings of Tragedy

which can also be considerd a classic methinks. Strange that there are so little SX album reviews on metalreviews...

Classics rule :)

Orchid and Still Life are not Classics for the same reason Hatebreeder should not be a classic - not around long enough, not influential enough (spawning a wave of clone bands does not make a band original).

The next two, once again, have not been around long enough.

Please keep requests to either truly groundbreaking albums or albums released at least ten years ago that were either instant classics or influenced many bands.

What part of that do I understand..??

But okay you're probably right. Though Orchid is from '94 :P it is probably only a classic for the fans. Maybe not their most groundbreaking album, agreed. I guess the same applies to divine wings & paradox: they were defining moments for both bands, but maybe not that special as a whole

I don't know if it had been mentioned before but Crimson Glory _ Transcendence is a definite classic. Their s/t could be a classic as well. C'mon, at least they need represantation on this site :P

more Priest, more Kreator, Opeth - Morningrise and Still life, Nevermore - Dreaming neon black, Blind Guardian - Imaginations from the other side, Dark Tranquillity - The Mind's I, Rage - Trapped, My Dying Bride - The angel and the dark river and move Dismember - Massive killing capacity to classics!

Opeth has never produced anything remotely groundbreaking. Though I enjoy the band, they are in no way groundbreaking. Plus, their recent three records ranged from mediocre (Blackwater Park) to bad (Deliverance) to pointless (Damnation.)

As for the666th:

Priest: It'll show eventually.
Kreator: See above.
Opeth: Opeth never wrote any classics.
Nevermore: Dunno, someone else'll have to answer or write that one.
Blind Guardian: Probably.
Dark Tranquility: The Gallery is their only classic.
Rage: Possibly.
My Dying Bride: Dunno.
Dismember: Eh, there aren't many true death metal classics. Morbid Angel wrote a couple, Obituary wrote a couple, Suffocation wrote a couple, Cryptopsy wrote one, Unleashed wrote one, Grave wrote one, and that was about it (unless you consider Slayer and earlySepultura to be death metal, which they aren't).

December Flower: Don't know nothin' bout Crimson Glory, personally, so someone else'll have to answer that.

Blood Must Be Shed, while fucking awesome, is not a classic. It was nothing transcendental, nothing new, nothing really creative, but god-damn, was Warfare a fucking black metal orgasm or what?

Seriously, not a Classic. Great EP, though.

A lot of people have been requesting Savatage, so someone'll probably do that soon enough.

I don't know anything about Death SS, myself, so someone else'll answer that one.
