Or Kirk actually playing the guitar during a solo, and not just the wah?

Oh, and Trujillo not walking around on stage like a monkey, monotonously banging his top snare, please.

At least, Metallica have soli, that are making a little sense compared to the Chaos from King or Hanneman. And I've never heard anything from Slayer that comes anything close to someting like "Master of Puppets" or "...and Justice for All".

Slayer can one thing very very good: 2,5 Minute High Speed Thrash. But if the tempo gets in the midtempo area, where good melodies are essential, then it's getting very fast very boring (Cast Down, Catatonic, Dead Skin Mask etc.).

At least Metallica are moving on stage, while Slayer are standing there and doing nothing aside from head banging...

I actually agree that Kirk's playing is (was) better than Kings and Hannemans... All three are poor players though.

Want something to roll your eyes to? How about James heading backstage between nearly every song to have his hair combed?

Slayer is to Metallica what Armani is to Chanel.

Also, if you want mid-tempo metal, don't listen to thrash.

Are we expected to understand that reference?

I don't like midtempo - but when songs are midtempo, then Metallica is way better. Ok, Slayer have also some good "not so fast" songs like Die By the Sword or Postmortem or the middle part of Angel of Death, but to compare Slayer with Metallica is (as said before) not fair (but for other reasons ;)).

Yeah it is unfair, Metallica are a bunch of wankers...they always were. I don't particularly love either band, but if I had to pick which was better I would say Slayer, even though both bands have been putting out absolute shit for the better part of 15 years.

There are always exceptions, but since Divine Intervention, the slow songs went to much the new-metal route.

Uh yeah, since Divine Intervention everything went nu-metal... for a while. We're not talking about that period, obviously. Don't deflect arguments.

And I'm going to be controversial and say that Slayer were never that Nu Metal, and even had Thrashy songs on Diabolus.

Doesn't matter what Diabolous had, it still sucks.

It's not pure thrash, like Machine Head. :P :D

I like this album, but Seasons In The Abyss beats this by miles.

I agree. KEA never did anything much for me. I like SNM better.

That's true, but even a little nu metal is too much nu metal (for my taste). At least for a band like slayer. It's the same as if Motörhead trying to bring Nickelback or Radiohead style into their sound. Nu Metal was and is just trend hype bullshit crap.

Woah, woah, woah. Did you just compare Radiohead to Nickleback?
