As wonderful as I think this album is, I think Narita is quite possibly their greatest album. 49er and Warrior have to be two of the greatest metal songs ever written.

Yes, Narita and Fire Down Under are better than this one.
Still a good album though but the all "pedal to the metal" thing make them lose their initial charm.

I have to disagree. You really can't compare "Thundersteel" to "Narita" or anything during the Guy Speranza era. As far as the classic Guy Speranza era Riot, "Fire Down Under" is by far their best album. I think "Rock City" would be a close second and even though I like "Narita" as well, I just don't find it as strong as the other two. As far as the heavier Riot, "Thundersteel" is excellent and blows away most Riot albums that followed. Mark Reale transformed his guitar style from a classic rock sound to more of a power metal one with "Thundersteel".

Yeah, after having heard all the afore mentioned albums I think I also agree with Jeff. FDU and Thundersteel are probably Riot's best albums but not really comparable between them or their eras.

Same band's name on the cover.
If I can compare Lonesome Crow to Love at First Sting (believe me, I can!), I can compare Riot's hard rock and metal era.
