Lots of old-school grindcore missing...

I'll get to it eventually, you know that.

Just a reminder, you know me.

Well, I go easy on Aaron. Otherwise, I agree with you completely. I started a mini-revolution saying the same thing a few pages back.

well, not every reviewer agrees with every nomination for classic status.. and pair that with the fact that it's hard to write a 100/100 review without descending into idol worship

I tried a draft of That Candlemass Album and it came out like:

"omg omg omg omg leif edling roxors my soxors 99.9/100!!!!!! killing songs: leif edling!!!!!!!!"

so, yeah. patience glasshoppels.

I spat my drink out, and soiled myself 86 times when I read the "it came out like:" part. Well done.

welcome aboard !

you'll soon discover how pointless your (huge and quite good) review request list was pointless unless you prove yourself fit to be a reviewer and do those yourself...

NP
Shining "in the kingdom of kitsch you will be a monster" (postjazz or something, good album)

I'd be willing to do some classic/archive reviews, but:
1. I don't think I'm up to standard
2.My cd collection expands at a much slower rate than other reviewer's, so updates would be every 2 or 3 weeks
3.I rarely buy new cds, so it would be only classic/archive reviews

What does everyone think?

Entombed-Left Hand Path
Kreator-Pleasure to Kill
Iron Maiden-Number of the Beast
Cathedral-Forest of Equlibrium
Sepultura-Beneath the Remains
Metallica-Ride the Lightning
Deicide-Deicide
Necrophagia-Cannibal Holocaust (if only to rip it apart)
Bolt Thrower-Warmaster

Mostly stuff along those sort of lines, I don't own anything really unheard of, and it's almost all old stuff. That was just the stuff that popped into my head at the time.

My english is not so good to be a reviewer. I will stand in the forums, where it isn't so important to speak english correctly.

I really can't understand why these are not in the classic list... and I can't understand how there is not album with Martin Walkyier singing reviewed as classic. Sabbat and Skyclad firsts albums deserved that status.

Tell me what ya think.

Entombed-Left Hand Path

Starting out in Stockholm, Sweden Entombed were the pioneers of the now well known 'Stockholm' sound, and even produced an offspring of copycat bands such as Grave (who, admittedly were awesome). Beginning under the monoker Nihilist Entombed quickly made a name for themselves in the underground with the demos entitled Premature Autopsy, Only Shreds Remain and Drowned. They released one more demo, But Life Goes On-their first release under the name Entombed.
The real impact that this band had on the metal world was realised in 1990, when Entombed released their debut album Left Hand Path through Earache and was recorded in Sunlight Studio, Stockholm.
But on to the album: The opening track, Left Hand Path opens with a scream and then goes straight into brutality. The guitar tone is absolutely crushing, with the title track quickly going into a solo just to show off the guitar skills you are treated to on this album. The vocals may not be the most interesting thing on show here, but they are extremely adequate and we even hear some clean screaming on Revel In Flesh. As a whole the musicianship on this CD is excellent, with some great riffing, crazy Reign in Blood esque solos, fast drumming, nice double bass work and no reliance on blast beats. This is finished off by competent if not interesting bass work shared by both Uffe Cederland and Nicke Andersson.
This is a very consistent offering, yet it somewhat feels overshadowed by the absolutely wonderful title track-which also happens to be the best death metal song I've heard in a long time!
Basically, buy this now and see why early Entombed is so highly revered amongst metalheads across the world.

Killing Songs: Left Hand Path, Revel In Flesh and But Life Goes On are my favourites.

End note: The reissue of this cd (which I am reviewing) also contains two bonus tracks from the Nihilist days entitled Carnal Leftovers and Premature Autopsy.

CLASSIC

You guys have to review some classic Anthrax! It's a big hole in the site's "Classics" section that you have classic Metallica, classic Megadeth (sans Peace Sells...), classic Slayer, but no Anthrax before "We've Come For You All." Certainly, an album like Among The Living or Persistence of Time would be ideal. I actually have a review for Persistence of Time on Epinions that I can send if anybody wants to use it. http://www.epinions.com/content_209373007492

Yes, Among the Living should definately be here in the classics section.. are there no reviewers old enough to have had that one thrash it's way into your heart?

Hey, I love that album, but I'm supposed to be delivering about seven other classics at the moment.

Maybe something'll be done soon enough, timing's right after all.
