Just because it's not as brutal as say, Cannibal Corpse or Morbid Angel, doesn't mean it isn't death metal. I mean fuck, who would actually dispute that Death are anything other than death metal?

i don't think its too far of a stretch to say Leprosy and Scream bloody gore were thrash

Maybe by todays standards of death metal and thrash metal. But back then, it was death metal and nothing but.

Wasn't Arise considered a thrash metal album when it came out, though?

Yes, and it still is; why?
Because, it was and is.
A thrash album.

Morbid Visions and Bestial Devestation is death metal. Everything else Sep did until Roots is thrash. But what does this have to do with Death?

Exactly.
They started being thrash around Schizophrenia up to (more or less) Chaos AD.
Arise is pure Thrash.

I forgot Chaos AD, and with reason.

It still has a few shades of thrash in it, though you can see where they were headed, which was the shitter.
It's their transition from greatness to suckage album.

Ha, couldn't of said it better myself.

Don't let Zad hear you say that though. With Sep being so awesome and all, no matter what they do.

I'd much rather shorten that 4 minutes to 2 minutes and listen to Biotech is Godzilla.

You're just making shit up now. I've never liked Chaos AD that much, nor Arise for that matter. Schizophrenia and Beneath The Remains are where it's at. Roots gets a soft spot, and the later stuff is tolerable to meh, as is the pre-Schizo stuff. That's Sep in a nutshell, according to Zad.

Well, Chaos AD is actually my favorite Sepultura album and one of my favorite metal albums of the 90's. Overrated would IMO be Arise. A good album, but very stale-sounding (and I like Beneath The Remains better).

I don't think BTR is underrated. It is a classic, and I am pretty damn sure everybody on this site knows that.

But to call Chaos AD your favourite Sep album, ouch...

As long as you know it, then that is all that matters.
