Why is this not a classic? Seriously.
The problem is, while there are some outstanding tracks (Master of Disguise, Alone, The Chaos Path, and The Throne of Tragedy)
the rest are forgettable.
The talent and creativity of the musicians present is undeniable, which makes it even more disappointing, because, the potential is definitely there.
If the rest of the album was as stellar as the forementioned, it would be a great album. A classic?
Well, maybe, but I would still lean towarsd a very good archive.
If the entire album was as good as the tracks I mentioned.
Forgettable? Hardly. Listen to the album as one long trip rather than a collection of singles. And the impact it had is worth considering too, no?
I have. Numerous times. I bought it immediately upon it's release, like I said I was so impressed with Aspera, that I waited in anticipation for this one's release.
I'll still give it a spin once in a moon, but I usually stick to the standout tracks.
It may have had some impact, but I am not sure that it is enough of one to rate a classic stamp.
I would sill cosider Aspera to be more influential, and the better album.
But that's just me, obviously some feel otherwise... in the end it doesn't really matter whether an album bears the coveted CLASSIC status or not; what matters is the pleasure one derives from the listening experience.
Like I said, A good four or five tracks are stellar, in every sense of the word, the others fall short.
