In my opinion Imaginations From The Other Side is the album that I would tell anyone interested in Blind Guardian to get first. When people who are new to metal ask me for recommendations on getting started I always throw this one out there.

I don't have any BG albums yet, but I'm pretty sure I'll be getting this one first. :)

Get it. It's freaking genius. I got this album years ago but it still gets played more than albums I got a couple of months ago. I'm more fond of the fast pounding songs like I'm alive, born in a mourning hall and ( prob my fav metal song) Another holy war. These kind of songs seem to missing from the latest album :(

The BG remasters sound very good, but not quite a difference, let me tell you.Is a minor improvement. The biggest bonus for me are the videos.
I must say that even though i love Imaginations, i prefer Nightfall In Middle Earth (more variety and dynamics from song to song and within songs), or the most complex A Night At The Opera :dio: .

Ahh, one of my favourite albums of all time. From Imaginations to Another Holy War to A Past and Future Secret, this album completely rules in every way.

I love the concept for Nightfall In Middle Earth but track for track, Imaginations is THE best BG album ever. I like Twist In The Myth and Night At The Opera but in comparison to earlier work (like this album) they pale in comparison. THE definitive BG album.....it's all here....

i totally agree with marty...i love NIME cause its a great album but adding to that its the whole sismarilio story (i am huge tolkien fan). But i guess in song by song comparison Imaginations from the other side is the best BG albumAll the songs are very near to perfect but my personal favorite is another holy war...Hit me nail me make me god...

This is my favourite BG album, with A Night at the Opera coming in a close second. But despite this, I still prefer a lot of BG's older material, when they were, what? 'Epic Power Thrash Metal'? I'm not sure how to categorize them, but that's how I find it. ANATO was a fuckin great album too. The orchestra simply amplified their sound to a higher level. And IMO, BG's best/greatest song is from that album, 'And Then There was Silence'. Best epic song I've heard. Definitely owns all the prog metallers. I wish they could come up with an album that has all epic stuff (10 minutes being the shortest track). It would definitely leave all the Petruccis and Akerfeldts abandoning their career in humilation.

My thoughts exactly.

I'd actually go further and proclaim this not the best BG album ever, but best power metal album ever. There, it's done.

Finally got around to getting this and it's very good. Not sure if I'd call it a classic, but very good nonetheless.

100% classic... if this is not a classic, 90% of the albums in the classic list should go to Archive status.

Oh, good point. :P

I didn't say it's definitely not a classic....just not sure. Perhaps over time it will be for me.
