Stargazer, to this day, is still one of the greatest metal epics of all time. RJD's performace was outstanding. What an emotional performace!

I agree, Stargazer is without a doubt Dio's best performance, and one of the best metal songs of all time!

More stargazer praise.

Not only is it just pure epic and one of Dio's best vocal performances, but these are probably Dio's best written lyrics. Then again, the rest of the album is good, but nothing shines nearly as much as Stargazer.

I like Tarot Woman & Run With The Wolf. Everything about this record is perfect, the art, the lyrics, Blackmore...

Hard to believe bands used to get away with putting out a record with 6 songs. Then again, they'd do one a year. Nowadays you wait 3 years for a record & get 13 songs with half filler? lol

Rising is the best record ever.

Great CD, only problem is there are only 6 songs and Do you Close Your Eyes kinda sucks.

Yes, Stargazer is amazing. Definitely one the best written metal songs.

I prefer a 6 songs/40 minutes cd of that quality (no weak tracks here !) than any 75mn Dream Theater type album...

Ritchie is the greatest guitarist ever. Dio never sang that well after Rainbow. All the songs are absolutely fantastic... they even changed the weak backing band of the 1rst album to overpower the music... one thing though, this si not, imo, the greatest work Rainbow ever put out... this has to be On Stage (which, btw, should be reviewed as a classic !)!

thanks for your support ! it seems that many people are confusing quality with quantity these days... never a good thing for music ! fuck cd length, it's really not the matter !

Yeah I definitely agree, but when the album is so short it feels like it could have been better by adding a little more substance.

yeah, but I think that's what causes recent albums to have so many fillers inside... who knows, maybe Rainbow had a lot more material but sticked to the finest... I'd better be dreaming of longer albums than getting fillers that annoy me....

Yeah Ritchie Blackmore was the true guitar god, that guy was just off the charts with his guitar playing, i have these concert series-Deep Purple Machinehead LIve, wow, nothing like witnessing the guy live, he was always trying to stay out of the spotlight, so in the concert you don't get to see to much of him, but when you do is classic, you see him just go insane playing the guitar, truly classic. OHh and i find the lyrics to Do you close your eyes kinda funny, i dont think the song is that bad. Rainbow- Rising, Masterpiece!

I love Rising!!! I saw this cover and thought "hm, looks interesting" and bought it. It was the first time I heard anything from RJD, and since then I love this voice!!!

This one gets a spin at least once a month. A nearly perfect album. Blackmore's riffs hit on every song, Dio never sounded better and the Jimmy Bain/Cozy Powell combo remains one of the most unheralded rhythm sections in rock history. If you don't like this record, you don't like hard rock. Simple as that.

Can't believe nobody has mentioned A Light in the Black. Next to Stargazer, it's one of the best songs any man has ever been a part of.
