Good job Dee. Finally this album is given the credit it deserves, being pretty much responsible for the whole Doom genre we know today.

Now that is a passionate review, very nicely done. I love this album. It doesn't get me as emotional as it does Dee, but it definitely gives me chills. I recommend this classic to fans of any form of metal. Great job again Dee.

Great album; my first taste of doom, in fact. Lots of memories attached to that opening lament of "Solitude."

Well done Dee. I know this review took some time to get right, and I think you did this album proud.

I remember the first time I heard Solitude. Never before had the first 10 seconds I had heard of a band's material draw me in as effectively as it did.

Such emotion, such passion, and the doom riffs!! 20 years old and this album still sounds heavy as fuck. A deserved classic if there ever was one.

Also, I'm pretty sure I read that Solitude was the last track Leif wrote before they hit the studio, and it was a bit thrown together at the last minute according to him.

Such a classic album needed a classic review, as this one. Good job, great album (a real classic) and great review.

I would say that both Nightfall and this album are classics...

I also prefer Messiah but Lanquist is pretty damn good too IMO.

no Kathy, i'm not 8)

I happen to consider Nightfall to be the only Candlemass album really deserving a classic status... most of their other material is very good though, but not classic (in my book).

I have only been in the possession of this album for a short time. Presently it is one of the albums that gets the most playing time in my stereo. So much feeling and yet so heavy.. An outstanding album (well deserving of the great review)...

I'll quote it 85% (yes, I'm a stingy bastard).. I might raise it later though..

EDIT: It occurred to me that I was indeed too cheap with the score. I'll change it.

I don't think Nightfall being better than this means this can't be a classic. This is one of the first ever doom albums and it is one of the reasons why it's called doom so it deserves a classic status. Period.

I think if Messiah was on this album it would not have been as good.
