Even though I enjoy Come Clarity quite a lot, it saddens me that In Flames will never again write an album like this one. I would rank this as one of the 3 best melodic DM albums of all time. The guitar work throughout the album is amazing. 95/100

Great album, I don't have a lot more to say than that. Fast and intricate and melodic and aggressive woo. :dio:

Oh...watch out, here come the naysayers.

If Lord Hypnos doesn't give you chills, you must not be very metal.

The only parts of this album that I like are the parts where they're playing kewl geetar harmuneez, the rest is pretty dull.

Adam with the zinger! I don't understand the disrespect for this album. Sure it was derivative and In Flames have become the new Metallica in the eyes of some but this still sounds like a classic metal album to my ears. Songs like Moonshield, Artifacts of the Black Rain, Lord Hypnos, and December Flower helped define that time and place.

Long time reader, new poster.

Just want to input my opinion that i think this album is deserving of the classic status, i realized this the first time i ever heard this album.

This album and Whoracle both spend a lot of time in my cd player.

It's just too bad that i keep looking forward for In Flames to release another Jester Race and never get it.

This is definately deserving of its classic status. It's my favourite IF album. But how come there was no mention of Wayfaerer or Lord Hypnos?

Except when the singer opens his mouth. Like a lot of metal bands I think they'd be better as an instrumental group :P. I think it deserves its classic status though because it helped start a genre.

I've been waiting for this to be reviewed classic for a long time.
I know there are some people who will disagree with my view, but personally this is my most favorite album that I own. Period. Nothing will ever top it for me, and is why In Flames will always rock for me, because it takes more than crappy music to destroy a legacy that their earlier music created. Amazing, unique, and ahead of its time. I also love the concept of the album, albeit a little cliche.

Because I didn't feel a track by track was the best approach for this album. Both of those are great songs, but I listed my top three and the rest are pretty similar so I didn't see the point.

I'm glad The Jester Race got the classic sticker. I'm new to posting on this site but I've been visiting it for years. The Jester Race has some of the most solid guitar work I've ever heard. The Melodies are perfect and I prefer Andres Deep growls opposed to the shriek he uses now.

That's actually my favorite song of TJR. Love both the bridge in the middle and that duel guitar riff.

Anyway, the two most chilling songs on TJR were probably Dead Eternity (another favorite of mine) and Dead God In Me (which isn't one of my favorites but is still a great song).
