I'd just be happy as long as they put out something that I like. Although I love their older material more than anything else, I'm also willing to accept their newer stuff. As mentioned by someone earlier, they're already a band with 30 years of great music behind them. Maybe they felt it's time to try out newer things, and they've executed them pretty well.
It's not a matter of they can't write/play like the older songs anymore but more rather that they just don't want to. If they can't, I don't think they'll be playing their older songs live at all.
But just to be a die-hard hopeful, I hope it's something old-school. With the Somewhere in Time tour still on-going, they might have just rekindled their old touch. Keeping my fingers crossed.
