This can't be good news.

It is gonna result in a whole bunch of sales of DT albums, a whole bunch of bitching about said albums and a "new direction" for DT to keep the sales spike going.

Bad move Mike: he says he didn't have to think twice, and that was the problem here.

I mean, he can do what he wants and if he likes the band, why not, but there's baggage that comes along with doing a cross-promotional fill-in like this, and it ain't good for DT, it's fans or the other 4 guys he works with full-time.

Sounds like a stand up thing to do if you ask me. Hope Portnoy helps them produce something worth a damn.

Sure there are better technical drummers, but MP's playing is still very impressive, good on him I say. He seems like the sort of guy that has to be kept busy, and it's not like he hasn't played with other bands before.

I think he's doing it because he is the idol of A7X's recently deceased drummer. He's doing it as a way of honoring him which I think is admirable despite the fact that Avenged Sevenfold is a huge steaming pile of shit.

+1

Even though Avenged Sevenfold does have a few decent songs, in my opinion.

What the hell is wrong with you clowns? He didn't join the fucking band! He's recording an album with them as a tribute.

Even if he did join the band full time, who fucking cares? I'd like to punch so many of you in the fucking face! Haha.

Gah...

Anyway, A7x sucks, hard, but yeah, it's a decent thing to do for a tribute.

Sure, "it seems like a nice thing for Portnoy to do" and all that nonsense, but I'd much rather have him filling in on the drums for King Crimson or playing for Zappa Plays Zappa or something. He needs to quit listening to garbage like Avenged Sevenfold and Trivium and shit. Stop it, Mike, stop.

Not that old, buddy. I was trained by Diemon Dave! I'll wreck you with my Kung Jitsu.

I just checked out some of their stuff, what's all the fuss with these guys? I don't get it, but no doubt MP's involvement will help sell some albums.

They're definitely not very good. The "singer" is atrocious.
