I'm extremley anxious to here this new album. I absolutley love Temple of Shadow! It was their bes release to date IMO.

Angel's Cry is also great but I prefer Edu's vocals over Andre's whom I find irritating after a certain amount of time.

No. I would say don't go with Holy Land if you're big into power metal as that is more progressive than prog.

Rebirth, Angels Cry, or ToS would be a good one for a power metal fan to start.

Holy Land if you're into prog metal more than power.

Actually, I like prog and power metal about the same--Dream Theater is my favorite band, but I like more power metal than prog metal. I'll just have to see what the record store has...

I think i need to hear it some more but based on this song i'd say the new album will be a grower.

A bit disappointed with the track. I hope it all doesn’t sound that way.

Same here. Something's missing. But I'll definitely buy the album no matter what.

This song has a serious 80s feel to it with the exception of some modern effects here and there. I can definitely hear the "heavier" sound, but it seems kind of lackluster after Temple of Shadows.

Whats that?

Go to a record store and take it from the shelf and place it on the counter and say "I'll have this" :)

These news sound weird, especially the thing about the mental sickness-theme. Weird for a band like Angra I mean. This could mean they wont write monotonous power metal (not that they would otherwise) because it probably wouldn't fit with the complex lyrical content. Could turn out to be very very good. I just hope Edu is less annoying than he was on Temple of Shadows and return to the much superior singing style he had on Rebirth.

I have just been listening to a promo copy of AURORA CONSURGENS , all lyrics do have a common theme: the various mental issues, including suicidal tendencies, schizophrenia, manic depression, sociopathy, not typical issues tackled by powermetal in general .
Could this be the same band that released T.O.S , take "Spread your fire" its a great song but the lyrics a very monotonous.( Ego Painted Grey) sings about fighting depression and suicide .
This new album still has the Angra sound but with complex lyrical content and without so much cheese.

“AURORA CONSURGENS” TRACK LISTING

01. The Course Of Nature
02. The Voice Commanding You
03. Ego Painted Grey
04. Breaking Ties
05. Salvation: Suicide
06. Window To Nowhere
07. So Near So Far
08. Passing By
09. Scream Your Heart Out
10. Abandoned Fate

I think it's one of biggest disappointments this year. It's not heavier than say Temple Of Shadows, and certainly less memorable. I got this feeling of recycled stuff when listening it. There are only 2 songs that make me listen the album again: The Voice Commanding You and Breaking Ties. One typical Angra speed song with great lead guitar and the obligatory awesome ballad. It could grow on me but it would never reach a classic status like TOS.

Really? I still haven't had a solid listen, but I fond the first four songs completely awesome. We'll see.

It's not as good as Temple of Shadows, although at what it does it is as good, it just does less. If that makes sense...

Temple of Shadows was clearly more ambitious and had a wider range of styles incorporated, Aurora Consurgens sounds more like a portion of the latter stretched out to fill an entire album. Add that to the fact that it's a good 20 minutes shorter, and it gives the impression that this is an EP rather than a full album.

Anyway, the appeal of this album is the details in the music, and I have a feeling that the MP3's I downloaded doesn't really do the sound justice. It will probably be better on CD.

And of course, the wankery... Angra has some of the best wankery out there.

Well add to the 2 songs i mentioned earlier Passing By and you've got 3 great songs. My problem with this cd is that it have filler material (So Near So Far) and like Theli said it's very monotonous while on TOS every song sounded different in its own way. Hey i thought you said you didn't like The Course Of Nature.

I did. I actually was very disappointed with it, but it grew on me. I also like "So Near So Far," but after listening to this album more it feels very uninspired compared to TOS. It is their weakest album since Fireworks. This is what I thought would be my album of the year. It is still very good however. 83/100

I need money again so I can buy this and find out...

Question: Does Edu sound more like he did on TOS or more like he did on Rebirth?

That's good. I liked his performance on TOS, but I wanted a few songs like he did on Rebirth too.
