Angra are in my top three favorite bands of all time. I think they are the most underrated power/prog metal band out there. Kiko is also the most underrated guitarist out there. He isn't the best, but he deserves much more than he gets. With that, 'Angels Cry' followed by a close 'Temple of Shadows' is my favorite. I decided that today when I played both back to back. Of course they are also two completely different sounding albums... For the longest time it was the other way around. Every album they have released has been classic, except Aurora Consurgens (still a great album though).

In order:
Angles Cry
Temple Of Shadows
Rebirth
Holy Land
Fireworks
Aurora Consurgens

Also, just read this -

Official statement about european tour cancellation

We're really sorry to inform that due to various problems with the producer, the european dates have been canceled. These problems range from a lack of transportaion from Brazil to Europe to even more serious issues, that overall impede the band of doing the shows in a proper way.

We were looking forward to seeing our fans in Switzerland, Italy and Spain, and we wanted to show all of you how good the band is sounding with Ricardo Confessori back to the band. We are as upset as you are, and we will do our best to return to these countries an soon as possible and do the great shows our fans deserve. The new album is been written right now and it will be out mid 2010 .

Rafael, Kiko, Edu, Felipe and Ricardo

Angel Cry begins with a quotation of Schubert's Unfinished Symphony beginning, played on a cheap synthesizer. That sucks.

In the middle part of the title track there's another quotation, this time from Pagannini's 24th violin Caprice, played on the same cheap synthesizer. That sucks too.

Both quotations are not mentioned in the credits. That sucks even more.

Besides that, i pretty much enjoy this album; just not as much as Holy Land or Fireworks.

Well, seeing as how it was made in the early 90's with a cheap budget, yeah a cheap synthesizer is appropriate. Plus, I think both of those parts fit very well with the albums progression.

Fireworks for me.
I just read the review, and i can't believe how underrated this album is.
I'm listening to it right now and i just love it. All songs are unique here, very different from each other, and imo there is no bad song here, on the contrary, every song is great, with Fireworks being an amazing masterpiece....my favorite of the album.
I think the problem people has with this album, is that they expect something heavier and more headbanging, but that's exactly why i like here....just amazingly good music to just sit back calmly and enjoy it.
Second i would rate Angels Cry, very closely to this one, and Holy Land closely third.
And yes, i prefer the Matos era Angra than the newer....if you don't like it, it's your problem =P.

Temple of shadows. No pain for the dead is one of the greatest songs ever. Sprouts of time is also one of the best ever and one of the first power metal songs I had ever heard. It reminded me of soulfly, but not lazy and half-assed. Not every song is perfect, but the best 8 songs on here make on of the best albums ever.

After that we have Rebirth, which every song is incredible, a couple of them aren't perfect, but the rest are.

Don't underestimate Hunters and Prey, which I am sure I have ruined for a few people that heard that rendition of it a couple years ago.

If anything was released 1992 or later, he probably doesn't know about it.
