I personally love the Powergames CD I bought about 5 years ago. If they have the same singer and guitarists, I am sure it will impress. Very good quality melodic metal.

Yes, they are not! Excuse me but where the fvvvvvvck did u get the Lake Of Tears comparison?!?!?!?? :x They are power metal, like Helloween, Gamma Ray etc.!

Their website is still up (infopage anyway) and assumably they have been "active" and had some gigs in between all this time, but the last gig was towars the end of 2004... Dunno why they just can't get it together and do some demo or something :(

I think they line up was same, at least the singer! :D Both discs are good and solid, though WofE contained more "classic" songs ;)
...But the band also has a debut album called Without The Slightest Qualm (from 1993), it's hard to get... but I just ordered it from a certain Finnish place who list the cd, but I'm not sure if they are gonna have it...

I really liked WoE. It reminds me of the "pre power metal explosion" era that saw the emergence of dozens of cookie cutter bands. This album just seemed inspired like the older PM bands such as Chroming Rose and Heavens Gate to name a couple.

How is their post WoE material?

Well the post WofE material is just PowerGames from 1999 and that's it :(

I recall the cd to be very solid and quite good with better production, the only downside was that it was maybe not as memorable as the debut (er, I mean the previous album WofE).

I finally got around to listening to Wings of Eternity, so I thought I'd resurrect this old thread. This is not nearly as good as Power Games, but it is still a very solid release. Too bad they're not around anymore. They put out two great albums.

BTW I own both albums, and their name is Headstone Epitaph on Power Games, and just Headstone on Wings of Eternity. Does anybody know why that is?

Aww, too bad  I recall the WofE album containing many classic/great/catchy songs! \m/ ...But this was the first one I heard of them... and then got slightly disappointed at PG when it came out (like I just said)...

Hmm, I recall it was that there was another band called Headstone who claimed the name and thus they had to change it. They later released WofE with the "Epitaph"-extension as well...

I actually listened to WofE recently and raised my rating. It is definitely a good album.
You really didn't like Power Games as much? Listen to "From The Mountains to the Sea," that is one of my favorite songs of all time, by any band.

I just call them Headstone. I think it sounds better.

Well, it's been ages since I listened to HE... Actually From The Mountains to the Sea is the only song I remember by name from that album, might be because it was the only good/best song on it :P

Hmm, I meant that they released the WofE album first as "Headstone" then with the "Epitaph"-extension as in "Headstone Epitaph"!! :D

Martin Grim on the far right. Fuck yes!!! This is great news.

How does their singer sound?

Good voice (very deep and raspy but can also do melodic stuff), but his repetitive vocal melodies hold Mystic Prophecy back in my opinion.

I hate deep power metal vocals. :( Oh well, I'll hope for the best.
