I've been a fan since I heard "Dream Walker." That song is amazing, along with almost everything else they have done. Anyway, the real reason I started this thread is to see if anybody knew when these guys will be releasing something new. It's been about two years since "Far from the Madding Crowd,” and I think they are due. I was just listening to "To Travel for Evermore" earlier today and it made me think of how awesome this band is. Because they are indeed awesome. yep. |

Honestly dude, it took me about 3 months. After the first week or two I thought I wasted my money, but then after a few months past, I popped that bitch back in my CD player and it came to be one of my all time favorites (of the year). |

Within - 65/100 To Travel Forevermore - 60/10 Far From The Madding Crowd - 70/100 Some interesting songs in every album but not enough to keep me interested for long.Their albums quickly get boring and i doubt i'll be listening an entire album by them again.Overall for me it's a decent band with some good power/folk songs. |

I have Far From The Madding Crowd - it has some tremendoues songs and melodies and such, but on the whole I find it a difficult listen. Maybe it just needs a few more spins. |

When they made the review of Far From The Madding Crowd,i tought that this album was going to be great, heck the reviewer(ithink it was Alex) even said that it was better in some aspects than Virgin Steele, being myself a huge VS fan,i tried that album, but i must say that i didnt liked it,It has some interestings moments but nothing to make it memorable. |

really great band.. far from the madding crowd is by far their best album... I wouldnt compare them to virgin steele by any means.. Virgin steele is so MUCH better.. but theyre great one of the more original powermetal acts around these times... i like the song "tree". |

I wouldn’t compare them to Virgin Steele either. I don't even know how that comparison came about. They are a progressive band with folk inspiration. Sometimes I think they even add a little black metal in the mix. And yes (metal reviews poster),"Tree" is only mediocre compared to "Highland Winds", "Longing for the Woods Part: I, II, and III," and "Bad Hobbits Die Hard" (awesome instrumental) IMO. What do you think of those songs? |

I dont care for Bad Hobbits die hard, but the others are really good.. Also got some good ballads.. I always liked this Troubedour-kind-of-feeling.. But I cant really find any black metal.. at least not on "Far from the maddin crowd".. Perhaps its just me, cause i dont listen to black metal, and I hate the bands i hears from this genre, I really think it sucks, except Cruachan.. I did some research, and it seems like WH is to release a live DVD in septemper (????), have no idea why that is.. And they are working on new material hopefully to be realeased in early 2006.. |

Those are the good songs. The rest is less memorable. |

I love "Far from the maddening crowd". "Longing for the woods" is really good. Makes me think 'bout home! I live in the real outback parts of northern sweden. When I listen to "long.." I close my eyes and I'm racing along on my snowmobile! Aaah, I got just a little poethic ...hehe =) |

Yet another hopeful release for 2006. Quote: Some news for ye all ...
The new album "The Shadow Cabinet" has been composed and pre-recorded by Erik. The album will include 12 songs (of which 2 are meant to be bonus tracks). Here are the song titles: 1. Demon Desire 2. Beautifool 3. The Raven 4. Faith - Apathy Divine Part 1 5. Envy 6. Snow - Apathy Divine Part 2 7. Sleep 8. I Shall Not Yield 9. Reason ... ? 10. Carpe Noctem - Seize The Night 11. Midnight Song 12. Shadow Of A Gipsy "Shadow Of A Gipsy" is a cover version of the Danish prog-rock band ACHE - originally released in 1971 on the album "Green Man". Right now the plan is for the band to begin rehearsing the songs, and the recordings will start early March. |

A band near the top of my "bands I need to check out" list. I haven't heard one single song by them :? |

I got Far From the Madding Crowd and I think it's ok, nothing to get too exited over. I hear that album is more power and less prog than their earlier work aswell. |

I like it. It was harder to get into than Far From the Madding Crowd, but it’s still pretty good. Get FFTMC for some good Wuthering Heights, or listen to the song called “Dream walker.” Its from their first release Within. |

I mean, its still there to some extent, but I'd call it more Neo-Classical Power Metal than Folk Power Metal, which is what I assmued all their stuff would be after hearing FFTMC. |
