Yeah, I saw that but haven't given it the time...

Edit: I miss their old punkier vocals. They seemed more fun where these growls seem serious.

If they sound too serious to you, just have a read of the lyrics.....still pure cheese.

But seriously though, if the vocals are what you're concerned about, you're not listening closely enough. The songwriting and instrumentalism on this album are lightyears ahead of even their previous album, which was already well ahead of their debut. This is damn good stuff. Ordered the album, it's a must have.

But if I'm listening to RG, I want catchy tunes :( Songwriting and instrumentalism I leave for other bands to do.

Is there even a breakdown on this album? The best bart on Nothing Defeats the Skull was that breakdown where he goes BANG YOUR FUCKING HEAD!!!

YOU CANT ESCAPE FROM THIS TERROR
THE MASTER
HE WIELDS A SKULL

No breakdowns, new vocal delivery... This is everything I don't want on an RG album. The riffs are still quality but without the breakdowns it does nothing for me.

I now get why DW doesn't like them so much; they don't do a straightforward thrash album and I loved that on their last one. And this is a generic thrash album and it's not interesting in the slightest.

This kinda hurts my heart because I loved Nothing Defeats the Skull.

Yeah, Nothing Defeats the Skull destroys my face as well. But I have to disagree on this album. I refrained from listening to the entire album, because I want some of it to be surprise when the disc comes in the mail, but I don't just hear a generic thrash album.

It's the details that make it rise above the usual fare....the licks, the leads, the details and precision of the drumming. The songwriting is clever and catchy too. These are exactly the sort of little things that separate a thrash album from the pack, and these guys do it well.

Those things right there were never what I listened to RG for, though. I don't want them to be just a thrash band. The album isn't a generic thrash album, but it's just a thrash album and nothing more. It's not a bad album, but it isn't what I want and I guess I'll just leave it at that.

So I got this in the mail about a week ago and it totally slays. I think you really need to listen to the whole album, the first couple of tracks don't quite do the rest of it justice.

Zad....review this! I remember you actually quite liked their last one when you reviewed it.

Tear it apart, Zad. I hate it for ruining RG for me.

Review done. Actually like it a little better than Living For Death, so sorry Trapt, not a takedown...

Cool, glad to hear it. I'm all for these guys getting as much positive exposure as possible.

I really can't see any merit in this album. I gave it another try yesterday and I turned on living for death three quarters through because I was bored with it. it just lacks any quality songwriting.
